I have a freind and his dog was murderd 4 days ago. A man put firecrackers in the dogs mouth and blew up his face. Then he put the dog on the back of his 4 wheeler and showed to all of the kids and told them their dogs was next if they did not keep them on a leash. We have call the cops and they do not want to do anything about this. They found the dog today and took pictures but they will not pick up the dog to send him off to find the cause of death or where the owner can even bury SPOT the right way instead of him laying in a feild rotting. Can someone please help me.

brook, i don't know where you live, but you might want to get in touch with the local society for the prevention of cruelty to animals (assuming that you are in the u.s.) i don'd know the comparable institutions in other places. there should be some municipal or city or state agency that you can speak with. not sure how much authority they will have but it's a start.
i am so sorry that you experienced something so awful.

Wow, your local police are complete morons. This is serious stuff. I know laws vary from state to state but I'm pretty sure that would probably be highly illegal in any state where boinking your sister is also illegal. Also, threatening little kids like that? I don't think that would go over well with anyone at all. What a maniac! Honestly, I would fear for my own safety if I were sharing a neighborhood with this psycho!
Definitely contact an organization who actually cares and knows what they're doing, unlike your local sorry-excuse-for-police. I am so sorry you had to witness this atrocity. Good luck.

Is this the local law enforcement? http://www.lpso.net/
Call the office and get confirmation that a complaint was registered and the case number plus a copy of the incident report. Torturing a dog is a crime, even in rural areas:

Contact In Defense of Animals in MS. Nobody knows more about rural action and case resolution in this region than Doll Stanley: http://www.project-hope.net/

I cannot say what I would do as it involves commiting acts which are against the law. Suffice to say - I would not let someone murder anyone or anything I loved without some kind of appropriate (to me) reaction.

I suggest contacting local media while the story is still fresh, & drawing attention to the issue and how it was mishandled by the police.
I was also going to suggest contacting local newspapers. I remember once someone spray painted a hedgehog, the paper ran the story for weeks. It created a lot of publioc interest.

ewwww! ok i feel sick now. I would love to get my hands on that guy! i would beat him to a pulp, and possibly put fire crackers in his mouth and see how he likes it! anyway what everyone else said is right, call the police! or animal police or something.

Since the local police aren't able to help, I would call PETA http://www.peta.org/about/contact.asp
They can point you in the right direction and maybe able to help you draw even more attention to this.
Do you know who did it?
What are the dogs owners doing about it?

I would stick with regular law enforcement and escalate it up the chain of command. Call and write to the County and State police, if none of the local Police will listen.
As harsh as this sounds, your friend may have better luck fighting this battle by not making it an "animal rights" issue. People who engage in such depraved behavior are high risks for other such crimes. Almost all serial killers displayed cruelty to animals before starting to kill people. It's a major warning sign for psychosis.
...So you may have the best luck if you pose it as how this is a dangerous person willing to inflict aggregious harm, and point out how this person is under no constraint or pressure to behave otherwise.
No person should be able to see this as a rational act. (Well maybe the dog was on his property.) I would slowly but surely bring this to the attention of higher and higher authorities. It will make locals look bad if they ignore something like that and someone high up gets wind of it.
I agree with you Veganfor health, this is seriously disturbed behavior.
Yes, I would also frame it as cruelty to animals plus, would you want your kids around this sick maniac? Animal "rights" isn't necessary. I agree with the media angle.

Definitely take this to the media.
There are no words to describe how awful this story makes me feel. I would use all media avenues available to warn people about this psychotic person, who obviously has no regard for living things.
