Please be very careful when approaching Chihuahuas - these dogs are very protective and highly excitable! Especially when they are angry and running in a pack...seriously.:grr:

what the heck. i want to laugh but damn.

it reminds of these evil dogs that lived next door to my grandparents. they were jack russells, i think. but had kind of wiry hair. bleh. i don't remember. the owners were NOT good dog owners and the dogs always got out of the backyard and wandered around.

they followed this little girl on her bike one time. she was scared. (she lived two houses down). and one time, during a get together, we had to park in front the house and were getting out. the dogs had escaped from the backyard again and were charging at us. my brother was all freaked out and didn't want to leave the car. we just ignored them and started walking up the driveway. they came onto our property barking and snarling and biting at my dad's pant leg. he actually to kick one in the chest (not too hard) to get it to go away. they were mean little ****ers. and they barked 24/7 with no sign of the neighbors doing anything.

Most of the "mean" dogs I've known have been little dogs. On my first day of kindergarten, I was bitten on the face by a Chihuahua/terrier mix, and missed the school bus because my mother had to take me to the doctor's office! I didn't need stitches, but I sure had my mother in a panic. I'll bet that if Chihuahua's were the size of pit bulls, that they would be the breed everyone is afraid of!

They might be. At my last job, I used to see all kinds of dogs. It was usually the chihuahua that was the least friendly. Of course I've met some really nice ones, as with any breed. But the chihuahua's seemed more skittish and they would shake a lot, I guess because of nerves? because some of them even had sweaters on.

The one in your avatar sure doesn't look mean, though. Way too cute.

The chi in the avatar is not mine, so I cannot attest to it's personality. Mine is extremely sweet - to me! She has been known to express some "displeasure" at stranger's hands reaching for her, but we've been trying to discourage any sort of negative reactions by always having treats available for people to give her.

My furbaby Toby is afraid of no one! Just the other day he tried take on 2 dogs that were at least 4 times his size! But he's very protective; people laugh at their size, but chi's can surprise you!
