On Fear Factor tonight (i hate this show and dont watch it, but my brother was watching it and showed me this one), one of the challenges is they have to crawl through a sewer and collect 3 dead skunks.

where do you think they got dead skunks? i want to write a letter to NBC and ask them.

sigh, just another thing to add to my list of reasons why i HATE television.

actually now that i think about it, most of all of that shows challenges have to do with animals. if its not eating their testicles or eyeballs its bull riding or collecting carcases. ugh.

Yeah, I've stoped watching it.
I watched it a few times when it first came out, because I love challenges and extreme sports and the like, but I got tired of seeing them use, eat, and exploit animals on that show. Same with Survivor.

(That's not to say I wouldn't eat a ****roach or two for $50k).

I agree with you. I not only do not like that show but survivor has become one of the shows on my list that displays animal cruelty.
Ive seen these people have to eat roton flesh and living critters far to many times. One of the survivor episodes they had a big slab of meat hanging from a hook and each team had use only their mouths to rip the flesh apart and put it on a scale to be weighd.Thats what they chose to determine who would be rewarded. down right grotesque! Reality tv has become a disgusting display of people acting macho and showing reckless waste and disreagrd for animals and their rights! It shouldnt be allowed. weather the animals may or may not have died of natural causes, think about this, if the hosts of those shows had someone they know and love die, would they want to see the lifeless body of that person treated with such disrespect? NO

I absolutely loathe Fear Factor. I don't watch a whole lot of network television anymore anyway.

I checked it out when it first came on and when I realized it would be mostly about gross out animal stuff rather than real challenges, I decided it wasn't for me.

Even Animal Planet exploits animals to get ratings. Do we really need to see the Crocidile Hunter manhandle and molest every animal he runs across. As for the dog shows with 23,000 canine participants, whoopee! (sarcasm included). Possibly the best bumper sticker I ever saw said, "kill your tv." I find that fitting and if you do I will be your alibi.

It's not fear factor so much as stupid, gross or
This-is-such-a-pointless-show factor

I saw a few minutes of that show during my spring break. People were forced to eat spiders. Everyone was sitting around the television. I don't understand how people can watch such disgusting things, especially after eating dinner. I also can't imagine how people could go and watch a bull die. I guess that is one of those unexplainable things people love and hate simultaneously.

Grrr...I hate that show. They had an episode with dead rats. I also hate that "I'm a Celebrity" show...they had a rat episode too. The other stuff is bad enough but I have 9 pet rats so those episodes hit really close to home!

I, too, hate those shows. On one Fear Factor episode, they had them eat dead baby ducks (in egg)- now how the heck did they get those? It was horrible. I could not eat for a couple days. Same with the bull testicle show. You want to test how macho they are? Take them out on some animal rescues- make them heroes. Man....this crazy world...

I have written to FOX many times about the animal abuse in their stinkin' shows. I even wrote one time (and tried to call) about COPS. One show had this cop clubbing a big, beautiful snake that was desperately trying to get away. After he hit him the first few times, he started to walk away. The other cop yelled that it was moving again (which it was, in the other freakin' direction)- and cop walk back over to it and smacked it in the head a few more times. Then he picked it up with his night stick and tossed it in the trash. Gosh dangit- IT BREAKS MY FREAKIN' HEART!!! Worst of all, I had called my son in to see this beautiful, huge snake on TV. My son covered his eyes and ran out of the room. I had no idea that was coming. It wasn't even a poisonous snake- they determined that right away.

AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! I HATE IT, I HATE IT, I HATE IT!!!

Fear Factor is just nasty. The stupidity of the people & the stunts are just mindboggling. I was in the living room knitting one night and my s/o was watching FF. One of the "stunts" was to drink a glass of bugs. The guy tossed in a bunch of different bugs in a blender and.. well you know the rest. My jaw dropped. Besides being revolting, I could not believe that they did that. I'm not a big fan of creepy crawlies but that was completely unnecessary.

So now on Monday nights, I take refuge in another room. Ugh.. it makes my skin crawl. blech.

has anyone seen the episode with the live slugs? they ate LIVE slugs on camera! imagine with me, though you'd probably rather not, the chain of events that slug went through. it may not be the most technologically advanced species on this earth, but anything with nerve endings knows that being ground up alive and digested is not something to look forward to. honestly, i'm one of those people who think mouse traps are disgustingly inhumane and take spiders back outside instead of killing them. some people laugh, but personally, i don't relish the thought of being flattened by a kleenex hundreds of times my size. i don't think the slugs appreciated that too much either.

xeno - i agree

i avoid such shows when at all possible, i even avoid food network these days due to the overwhelming volume of programs with raw or undercooked animal carcasses bing thrown around on the screen. (it's not a f****ing "good thing")

I like reality TV (sometimes) and I watched fear factor many times, but once I saw the show where they dipped their heads into cow blood to get rings, I thought enough was enough. Very few of the show don't involve animal parts. I wish they could get a more creative team of writers.

I really especially detest when they involve living animals.

I also like watching reality TV programs, like Amazing Race, Survivor and Fear Factor.

I feel disgusted when they eat live insects...worms..yuck111

I am still somewhat surprised that there is not more of a public out cry from organizations like PETA. They are usually very quick to jump on anything that can get them publicity.

Its weird that this show and survivor seem to be somewhat tolerated by animal rights activists, or at least just overlooked. Or I just live in a cave and havent seen anything on it hehe
