Happy Holidays Hamsters :santa:

This is a busy time of year for me so I haven't been around and you won't see me again till next year.

I haven't been Hamstering much either. A couple few short runs and some exercise classes. I usually take a break this time of year and I consider it well deserved and enjoy the heck out of it.
I do plan on doing some skiing this week, cross country and down hill....as long as the snow doesn't melt....it's getting kind of warm...like 40-50 degrees down here....hopefully it will stay cold up north.

Captain, I can't believe how much you've run.....I feel like a slug....but a happy one :D Think I'll do the Green Bay marathon in May again. You should think about a trip to Wisconsin. The GB marathon was voted one of the top 25 marathons by Runners World.

Welcome to all the new Hamsters!!!!

Go Hamsters :hamster: :pibo:

I didn't do anything on Christmas, but on Christmas Eve I ran for about 1.5 hours and did about 30 mins. of pilaties(sp?). Ok, the following is a little gross. I think I'm losing a toenail from running. Everything was fine until after a run and I'm taking off my shoes and it hurt so bad! No pain during the run, but now it's pretty sore so I think I'll skip the run today and do some other stuff instead. :-/

eww... weird... never thought you could lose a toenail from running...

40 minute run (might also do more later), 1 hr. swim, leg work w/ my awesome stretchy things. :)

EDIT: 3 miles walking to and from the pool, 2 miles walking to and from the library (I'm about to leave now) 3 miles to and from the QFC/Longs...

Ok, seeing as how I google everything, I googled it. It's really common and can result from your shoes being too small. I hate these running shoes and am going to get fitted for new shoes tomorrow, so I'll ask the guy at my local running store about it.

If you are doing any type of long distance running, make sure your running shoes are at least 1 size bigger than your regular shoe. When you run for long periods of time your feet will swell. Your feet need somewhere to swell and therefore that is why you need big running shoes. Otherwise you'll always have toe problems.

Distance runners loose toe nails all the time. After I ran my first marathon, I lost 4 and it seems like I always have at least one black toe nail. There is a joke around my running club that says that you aren't a "real" runner unless you have had a black toe nail. That statement is a joke of course but it is very, very common. I can go on and on about toe nails falling off but I don't want to gross anyone out. :)

Slynny, you deserve time off and I hope you enjoy it. You just ran marathon for goodness sakes. :D WI huh? I don't know what I'd do in a marathon that has less than 12,000 people in it. j/k I have ran a few small races. :)

Today we did some hiking but it was cut short because my friend got sick on the trail.

1 hr. 15 min. slow run, I WAS gonna do more in the afternoon (AKA now...) but I don't feel too good. :(
20 min. walk (fast) brisk, (after I found out that my friend was being an idiot...)
arm work...

ugg... I was SUPPOSED to go to the mall and ice skating, but my friend bailed. Then I chewed too much gum. Now my stumach hurts.

note to everyone: NEVER EVER walk five miles in ugg-boot type shoes. (they're animal free, like cheepo ones from costko or something) I have blisters in the WEIRDEST places.

and my feet smell like -----> :spew:

My new running shoes feel awesome. I normally wear a size 7.5 in everyday shoes, and these are an 8.5. Can't wait for my long run tomorrow! First run since Saturday! The guy at the running store said that if I tape it up with athletic tape, I'll be fine.

Today: 45 mins. of pilates, 30 mins. upper body work, 30 mins. butt work (ouch)

I used some christmas gift certificate money to buy new exercise dvds. I love the lotte berk method and i got the next one in that series, as well as a couple of cardio ones.

I tried, before, to do gym-y workouts and running and bike and stuff, but I really just can't motivate myself. I suppose I will have to live with my fitness-lite at home. It's way, way, way better than doing nothing. And maybe eventually I'll start running, or something! today i did tamilee webb's "lose fat fast." she's the one who did legs of steel, buns of steel, etc., and i am a follower because those are wonderful, but this is the first newer video of hers i have done. it's alright. i'll continue with it and wait for my new ones to come. i'm still happy with myself for doing the whole thing! :sunny:

Great job, corri! Tamilee Webb's "... of Steel" videos are really great! They always leave me really sore the next day.

I've been fairly good the last couple days. Yesterday I did lower body weights and a little cardio, today upper body weights and I'll do some running after I go buy new running shoes with my Christmas money. :)

I can't remember back very far so I'm not going to try to recall the past few days :) The days have been jam-packed so they all kind of blur together!

Today I ran 5 miles, then an hour later ran about 2.5 more really slow with my friend. Also walked about 1.5 miles with the dogs. It's rainy outside but not too cold - it almost feels like spring!

thanks!

today- 1 hr. running (broken up), a little more than an hour swimming, 3 m. walking, leg work...

*magic powers* I foresee more activity in the near futah!!! prolly a walk down to the library...

I definitally need more friends if I'm looking forward to the library.

EDIT: never went to the library... but I just "danced" around the living room w/ my little sister for 20 min.

Broccoli-I also always look forward to grocery shopping! (I just got back. :) )

Dietcoke: I always look forward to the library and grocery shopping.

Today I ran 4 miles for speed. I planned on finishing with 6 slow miles, but I just wandered back to the car after that. :whip: I didn't go to sleep until 6 am because stayed up eating fudge with a friend, so I wasn't really feeling it. I will wake up early and finish my 6 miles in the morning. I think I'm going to bed tonight at 7. Upper body work later.

4 mile run. I need to teach my dog to NOT dart in front of me in the middle of our run.

Okay... I overdid it going back into the weights. I can barely walk today!!

So, yeah... today I relaxed and did some very light stretching in an attempt to not hurt myself further. Hopefully I'll be up for something tomorrow morning. :)

8 mile run yesterday.

6 miles done today - for some reason I was knocking down those miles like nobody's business (much faster than usual). My friend wants to go running later, but it will probably end up being a short run/walk thing. I also need to walk the dogs...they're so energetic with the nice weather!

Anna, do you ever take your dogs running with you? My dog is very well trained when we go walking but all bets are off when we run because I can't hold the leash in the same way.

I wish I had the problem of running my miles faster than usual. :D

I wish I had that problem too. :) It seems that for the last couple runs, I've been running so slow. A lot slower than normal.

Today: 1.5-2 hour run at about 2:00 today

I just watched Running on the Sun, so I'm really motivated. :)

Captain and brocolli - Haha, running faster than usual is quite a welcome change  It doesn't happen often so I'm just gonna go with the flow!

I've tried taking the younger one with me (I don't think the older one would last very long, nor would he enjoy it!) and I have kept her on a regular non-retractable leash. Once she gets used to my pace she stays within range of the leash and doesn't pull very much. Actually, she's usually too excited to try to chase rabbits or squirrels so that's nice. But if we stop and start, like to cross a street or something, she always wants to start sprinting first; I just have to remind her to slow down.

I actually ran with her for a few weeks during the fall - I would run alone and then come back for her for the last few miles. She loves to run, but I didn't want to take her out when the ground started to get icy, as she could easily pull me down if she got distracted and forgot I was on the other end of the leash (this dog weighs about half what I do and she's really muscular) :dizzy: So I haven't taken her running in about a month, though the ice and snow have cleared now so I could probably start running her again. This dog has, like, instant endurance and would probably have no problem cranking out four miles right now! But also, as you mentioned, the leash is kind of cumbersome and I can't leave her off-leash because she will definitely try to greet (i.e. jump on  ) any other people she sees.

I bet my dog would love to be your dog, running with you all the time! :)

It was cloudy all day and the second I step out of the car for the run, it starts pouring. :stinkeye:

I just came home and did 45 mins. of upper body work and 15 mins. of ab work instead. More if I feel like it later.

I've been training for a half marathon and finally found one I want to run. It's in March! :)
