in light of the new year's challenge to go vegan for a month, i'd like to know what laundry detergent everyone uses. i've already done a search, but i thought an updated list would help challengers, newbies, and the nosy.:) also, some people who responded in the last thread posted a few months later that they were unsatisfied, and had moved on to something else. i live in a very rural area, with a hfs the size of a dollar store/tree, so i will probably have to order something online. please state what you use, where purchased if not a common brand(grocery store, hfs, online), and how heavily soiled your clothes usually are. thanks so much!

http://www.trinature.com/ all their stuff is vegan, not tested on animals, environmentally friendly and they have a great range of both household and skincare products
I actually use a brand called Aware, it'd definitely vegan, phosphate free and not tested on animals. I get it at my local supermarket (in Australia, so that's probably not that much help eh?)
Cheers!

whats lanolin?
'A fatty substance obtained from wool and used in soaps, cosmetics, and ointments.'
I think Method was attempting to cut it out of their products.

From their website:
Animal Ingredients
Do any of method's products contain animal ingredients and/or by-products?
All of method's products are animal-free (including our liquid fabric softener, which contains canola oil instead of tallow) with the exception of the dryer sheets, which do in fact contain tallow.

I'm starting to adopt a vegan lifestyle, and just ran out of dryer sheets. So what do you use for static cling? I've found vegan alternatives to everything else, laundry wise, but I need something for this problem, especially come winter when I wear lots of fleece.

Fleece doesn't seem very vegan-lifestyle to me....

Synthetic. And besides, I've had the stuff for years.
An answer to my question would be nice rather than a jab. Thanks.

I use Ecover. You can buy it at the health food shops but also the regular supermarkets in the UK. We have very light soiled clothes and it works great. friends with kids say it is not as good for heavily soiled clothes. In the US I used Seventh Generation. In the late 1980's-1990's we mail ordered it but it is now available at some supermarkets (Albertsons in Louisiana carried it. Maybe target as well)
I've got some recipes about making your own. They work well in soft to med water but SUCK in hard water. It uses pretty easy to get ingredients like soap flakes, borax and washing soda (not baking soda) and you use white vinegar as a rinse aid. I mix lavender essential oil in and it works well as a fabric softener and static reducer and is mega cheap. I don't own a dryer so i can't say about fabric sheets but vinegar helps reduce static.

Omg, I'm sorry I didn't mean to be rude. I know a lot of people who just don't know. I hope you accept my apology...
