I posted a thread about 6 months ago about this kitty stroller I thought was absurd, but soem kitties may find enjoyable. However, this ( http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?order_num=-1&sku=13734534 ) horrible engineering failure just confuses me! "here kitty! I'm going to let you roam free! Run out your little kitty door!...into a 2x4 ft enclosure..."

Erm... yeah, a little mesh cage IS the same as the outdoors... NOT! It's a little mesh cage with ventilation.
PS: Although I'm thinking about it, and it might be useful for all those cats who like to go outside and then just sit there 2 feet from the door. Seriously.

Good point. The ones that are afraid of outdoors....but insist on being out there.

My cat won't go outside, but she WANTS to, and when she does go out there she sniffs around all scared and then runs for the door, even if I'm there. She used to like it out there but now she's afraid, so I know about that whole thing with weird cats too... it also might be useful for cats that don't live in the most cat-friendly areas...

Yeah, my cat acts like he wants to be outside and then he gets scared when he is out there. He doesn't seem to mind as much if I am there with him but when I put him out there by himself, as soon as I close the door he cries.

It could be good for the cats that really want to go outside but can't because they don't have claws to defend themselves. They could look around a bit and see what they were missing and feel even more miserable. Or not. Ummmmerrrrrrugggghhh.

Well, to be fair, the enclosure is actually 6 feet long (even if it's hard to tell in that picture). :)
[2 minutes later: oh! I see from the product description that you can actually link the units together to make a longer run. That's a little better!]
My cats wouldn't much care for that kind of "freedom", but I suppose some housebound kitties might.

My cats would LOVE this. They are the typical cats: Curious about what's beyond the screen door, and they will poke their heads out and look around, but scurry away as soon as a loud noise startles them. This product would probably give them greater sense of security.

My cat prefers windows... she can attack anything without being attacked back... heh... she's gotten into fights with other kitties, dogs, geckos, birds and who knows what else on a windowsill... when she went outdoors she always got hurt by other cats and mockingbirds that would fly down in droves and peck her, so I think she got tired of it. Buuut, I'm just going to say again, tons of cats that don't like outdoors exist... the more spoiled the less they want to go out there, especially if the temperature is... 90-110+ most of the year... Texas, yay!

My cat, Benton, looks exactly like that cat!
Anyways, I think my cats would like this. It would be just like looking out the window, which my cats do all day, except when they are sleeping. I don't think they would like it that much more than the window, so for me it wouldn't be worth it.

I think my cats would like it too. Nothing wrong with fresh air and sunshine and they would be kept safe too : )

You can train kittens to walk on a lesh if they're used to a collar. That's a good way to let them go outside and still keep them safe.

Some areas are more dangerous than others. In some places, labs that do animal testing capture "stray" cats. Our newest cat we found when she was one month old, young enough to be trained to like the inside. She is not allowed out, but the other one was let out before we got him (at about 6-8 weeks of age), so he MAKES us let him out or wish we had (he can meow very very loud). Both are microchipped, which is the best we can do given the circumstances.

Where I live, there are no predators, I live in the English countryside and wouldn't dream of keeping a cat indoors, since the kitten I had at age3 lived 12 years, and, strangely enough, didn't get eaten by a bear.

I was under the impression areas in the US were cracking down on outdoor cats because they were killing birds.
As to dangers; cars, dogs, coyotes, raccoons, other cats and I am sure there are some I an forgetting.
