Beans, 1 whole corn, 2 carrots, 6 pieces of broccoli boiled, then lighty cooked in manola oil..to be honest I sometimes hesitate to eat that corn, the carbs in it are scary..anything I should take out of my lunch bowl?

Thanks guys.

Seems like the obvious solution would be to add less corn. 1/2 the corn = 1/2 the carbs.

Yeah, you're right, to be honest I love corn and sometimes can't get enough :hungry:

The only carbs you should not have to much of is "white" carbs. (white bread, white rice, regular pasta etc)

Buy them whole grain. Grains are what you should most of anyway according to the good 'ole food pyramid. Veggies come in a close 2nd.

It seems like you should add things to your meal, not take away. :confused:

It doesn't seem like a lot of food to me, to be honest - even if you're on a diet; so I guess I have problems understanding why you need to further reduce the amount of food that make up your lunch.

I agree, you'll not be able to sustain yourself long term on such a diet.

That sounds more like a snack than a meal to me!!

I love corn. I like to eat a whole can of it with some pepper on top...yum!

Why does everyone still get up in arms over stupid carbs? I don't get it. What is wrong with eating some corn if you're having other healthy veggies and beans along side it??

Actually, I eat a lot in a day:

Breakfest= Oatmeal.
Lunch= What I listed above.
Snack= Orange
Second Lunch=Oatmeal
Dinner=A bowl of Salad with fat dressing =)

That shouldn't be over 1500

That all sounds like what goes on the side of a meal to me (and for the record I'm not very active and at my ideal weight, so I'm not eating too much).

Just a salad for dinner? I'd be starving! I know so many people that eat like that and cant lose weight easily due to their bodies conserving because they arent getting enough.

Holy Crap!

That's nothing. That's not even an appetizer for one meal of mine.

To keep my weight I eat 3/4 of one lb of Whole Wheat Pasta a night, not to mention the sauce, the tofu, the Salad/soup or the Toffutti I eat for desert. (this is just one meal, I eat a Breakfast, snack, and Lunch too.)

You've got to eat more. 1500 calories is barely enough unless you plan on lying in bed all day trying to conserve your breathing.

When I first saw this I thought the same thing. I don't understand why you want to take away the meal already seems too small.

Maybe add some brown rice, or other grain to the meal.

i don't know what you should take away but it sure sounds very "musical" :)

btw do you eat this every day for lunch ?

Filmmakerr

Yep, everyday..sometimes I add different items such as Corn, of I think I forgot to mention I add tofu in that too.

That's not enough? It seems to fill me up pretty well, and I am a big guy, weird..but I do also drink a gallon of water a day, maybe that's doing the job.

Maybe Ill add some thing else to my diet, or just eat the whole corn, lol..

well, it's not like a little plate.

It's a pretty big plate with 2 long carrots, maybe 40 beans, 1 whole corn, tofu, 10 broccoli heads, and thats all cut up.

I'm very much a grazer so I haven't really eaten any meals but so far today I've eaten (at 3:00, and I woke up at 6:00)

About 3 cups of whole wheat pasta with tomato/mushroom sauce and olive oil
Hummus with triscuits
Several handfuls of dry roasted peanuts
Baked potato with about a cup of broccoli covered in "cheese" sauce and margarine
Flax seeds with OJ
a couple of cups of green beans with margarine
2 cups of coffee
carrots

Additional snacks to come...
for dinner I'm either doing chili with cornbread or nutroast with veggies and mashed potatoes, depending on how quickly I get off my ass and clean the house. This maintains 140 lbs on a 5'8 female.

You really don't need to starve your metabolism, it will make losing weight much harder and make it all the easier to gain it back when you quit your diet. Eat more!

There are quite a few things to add to make it a balanced meal. Of course, not ALL have to be added, but you should try adding at least two:

A good source of calcium
Some healthy fat- walnuts (will pack in a lot in just a little!), avocado, seeds
Something high in vitamin C to absorb the iron from the beans
Some whole grain, like rice or quinoa

Well, if you were doing the McDougall plan, you would be right on target!:D

Don't you ever get bored and just want to eat something else?

It looks like your diet could use some more fruits, and more whole grains. How about things like Omega 3's? Are you eating nuts or flax seed/oil at all?

I guess some of this also depends on what you mean by "oatmeal." For me lately, if I've had "oatmeal" for breakfast its 1/2 c slow cooked oats with 1 c rice milk, some brown sugar, cinnamon, 1/2 apple diced small, handful of toasted pecans (which I'm trying to switch to walnuts for the omega 3's, but they're just not as tasty) and a drizzle of maple syrup on top. Now THATS oatmeal. But if you're eating a packet of oatmeal made with water... thats pretty weak.
