Yay!

Granted, they're doing it to save money, but still...

Awesome. If it ends up working out well, hopefully other cities will follow.

stamford, CT?

they're all over CT actually. my mom drives city bus in CT.

they're also in boston. all new buses bought by the MBTA HAVE to be hybrids.

Yep. Stamford, CT. One of the safest places in the country to live (hehe). Except for the murder down the street last month...:furious:

Columbus, OH is also behind, apparently. This summer, my husband and I went to Washingtion D.C. and NYC for a few days. We saw hybrid/clean air buses (I wanna say hydrolic, but I'm not sure that's right, either) in both cities. I would look at the Columbus buses and think of all the crap they were spewing out and then think that one benefit of my not having my license is that I'm helping out the environment. Although I admit it, once I do get my license I might use the bus less in the cold (I don't want to go numb waiting for it, of course, with as long as what it takes for my heat to kick in, it may be a mute point; At least I'll be protected from wind.)

I've heard today that NYC has some hybrid taxis now. I guess there are about five and that the owner of the cab company wants to add more by the end of the year.:D (One reason I want to live in NYC is that there is very little use for cars.)

Ah, this is a totally new thing for me. I haven't heard of it being done around here. I'll have to check, though.

Wow I had no idea so many American cities were already going hybrid (yay!)

I had heard from one of my professors that most European city buses run off hydrogen.

Well, at least we're making an effort now :)

Hydrogen! That's what it is! That sounds better than hydrolic, I think. Eh. With the buses in NYC and DC, they were on the side saying that they were earth-friendly. :nana:
