what can i do? i just found this out today?
Oral Contraceptives
Most oral contraceptives contain animal-derived ingredients, such as lactose and animal-based stearates; all will have been animal tested.
Most medicines in general contain Lactose. I can't think of one in my medicine closet that doesn't! The only thing you can do it stop buying those, and look around for something different. If your doctor prescribes them, describe the problem to him/her about it and he/she might be able to help.

Probably, yea.
And think of all the other things you would need that were probably tested on animals if you were to get pregnant! Some things are unavoidable.

I agree with R_C... some things are unavoidable. Think about the alternatives and what impact they would have on animals...
Check out the Women's Health Forum too. There's a Birth Control discussion thread there...
All FDA medicines are tested on animals at some point (in the US). But yes, a baby would require a lifetime of more medicines tested on animals.

I got a flu shot this week and was sad because it's made from eggs. :(

To nitpick: it's grown in egg, not made from egg :book:
As for the BCP, what the rest said. You can control buying laundry detergent that isn't tested on animals; you can't control getting a BCP that isn't.

Right.
We can't be 100!% vegan, but we can try to make a difference.

I didn't say it was made OF eggs, I said it was made FROM eggs. I realize how it's made.
