Heh. Sorry if this topic has been brought up a lot.

I'm going to start my vegan diet soon (as soon as I get my next check) and I feel that my dedication should include another thing and I'd really like to get a tattoo. I'm not really educated about inks & stuff, so are there generally any that aren't vegan okay? I have an idea what I want, but still need it designed. Anyone here have animal rights tattoos? Anyone had any ideas about designs?

That's cool that you're into veganism and searching for sone vegan tattoo options. I am vegan and quite strict about it, however I am not sure weather or not the ink is vegan. I have, in the past thought about looking for an artist that uses vegan ink but there are four reasons that I have not:

1) Because the ink is vegan does not mean that the place is sanitary, and of course we are all aware of the possible diseases that we can be exposed to when getting inked in unclean business. My artist practices all the safety procedures that I expect.

2) Because what if the talent and creativity is not there, the tattoo lasts forever and it better look great :) My tat artist is awesome at his trade.

3)Because no one else is going to finish the work that he has already started working on me.

4) Because after almost ten years of getting a lot of tatoos, I have not shown any allergic reactions to the ink that they use and I feel comfortable with that.

It's quite possible that the ink he uses is in fact vegan, but I have not asked and would not feel comfortable going elsewhere.

I was going to post some site with vegan tats, but others already have posted the same sites that I was going to. Right now, I am working on my fute arm sleeve which is going to be bascially candy, one thing that I am going to have on there is a little confectioners heart that they sell at Valentine's Day with the word Vegan in it. Personaly, I don't want anything that too in your face vegan, but I want soemthing that is meaningful, so a small word it fine with me. On my on leg, I have a chimpanzee, elephant and two exotic animals, all I chose for specific reasons due to animal rights. For instance, my elephant is to remind me about why I go to circus protests and about the poaching that I am against.

If you get one, let us know! Just make sure the place is very clean. Good luck :)

I wasn't even aware that a tattoo might not be vegan. :-/ I currently have three, but would like to either get maybe one more or to redesign one or two of my current ones. Now I'm not so sure.

I'd really like to have one personally designed for me. Or one of my current ones to be personally redesigned. Anyone have any suggestions or know of anyone that does that?

None here, and no plans to have any identifying marks other than the obvious.

I never thought about that myself!

Any reputable artist should be able to draw what you want. my artist can free hand anything.

If you let me know where you are, i can give you some info. I have a half sleeve that is custom, and both ankles done in large custom peices.
