Recently with so much in the news I've started to wonder if I should spend the extra money and buy organic vegetables. If our fruits and vegs are being sprayed with chemicals and genetically engineered are we really eating healthy food? Will this later cause cancer? I have been so shocked in the last few years how many vegetarians I know that have gotten cancer. How about some feedback on this. I'm at odds. Thanks.

Um... I don't think you're going to find anyone on this forum who will say, "No, don't buy organic, given the choice."
There was some article I read in the National Review or some right wing rag that lambasted organic farming. I'll put some of the points they put against Organic farming.
- Organic Farming uses manure as fertilizer, and as such is responsible for 17X more instances of food poisening every year as non-organic methods which use Nitrate based fertilizers.
- Plants not sprayed with pesticides develop internal chemical defenses to insects. The uninhibited insect activity triggers natural chemical defenses that are just as undesirable as pesticides. You can't wash them off, because they are internal.
-Organic Farming forgoes using the latest technology and innovation to improve farming methods as some kind of conspiracy theory and irrational suspicion of positive changes.
...I can't support of dispute the validity of their claims. It could very well be set counter points from a lobby of industrial farmers losing money to the Organic Trend. But there are assertions out there against organic farming that have been made.
I buy organic for some things because they "taste" better. Other things I don't. When people choose not to, it's usually a matter of the cost being prohibitive.

Those are hilarious! What a load! The info about food poisoning is just plain a lie, apparently. I'll try to find a link debunking it, if anyone is interested.
