View Full Version : Sick of being sick

I am hoping for suggestions and ways that I can boost my immune system. I have been sick for almost two months straight! First was a case of shingles, on my face! It took almost a month to recover from those, I still have slight markings on my face. Then, I woke up to a sore throat, that a week and a half later, is now a full-blown sinus infection :(
I have always been pretty healthy, eat a decent diet (strict veg) and exercise (I am a fitness instructor at my local Y). What am I doing wrong?

it may just be a time in your life when you're sick... i've gone from sinus infection to cold to sinus infection to upper respiratory infection weekly for the past 8 weeks... i eat healthily, exercise, get adequate sleep, and i think it's just time for me to be sick...

granted, i live in the dorms and i'm constantly stressed and don't have time outside of my nightly sleep to rest during the day, which probably is continuing to the cycle..

are you getting enough fluids? are you getting enough rest?.. are you getting enough B-vitamins, iron, and vitamin C?...

Eat/drink antioxidents. Lots of Vitamin C does work.

You could try a B-complex supplement, echinacea, and/or goldenseal. Read up on them first, of course, and decide if they're right for you. B-complex and echinacea are immune boosters, and I always take echincea for two weeks at the onset of cold weather. I can't say for sure whether it helps me-- I seem to suffer from something allergy-like all winter, every winter, and of course allergies are the result of an immune system that's already over-active! I think I'm allergic to cold, dry air. :D

Goldenseal, OTOH, is a powerful antibacterial and should only be used to treat an actual infection. I have capsules, but I think you can get it as a loose-leaf tea or a concentrated tisane.

Oh..I almost forgot. Look up collodial silver. It is a miracle. I used it in my pink eye and the virus was gone the next day.

I also swear by colloidal silver. When I went back to the States for vacation earlier this year, I arrived in the country with a 104 degree fever, strep throat, and major bronchial/sinus infection. Got to my sister's house on the Saturday night of Memorial Day weekend -- no doctor's offices open until Tuesday. Between her colloidal silver and my Mom's Vitamin C, the fever broke on Monday morning and the coughing/congestion was gone by Wednesday.

I'm now taking a colloidal mineral supplement to boost my immunity through the fall/winter cold season, and that too seems to be working. In past years, I've always been one of the first to get sick. This year, I'm the only teacher who hasn't gotten sick, despite having been around too many sick kids to count.

It could just be coicidence. Or you might just have a genetically so-so immune system. :(

Go to Herbalhealer.com and order their 4-herb tea. This stuff will get the toxins & sickness out of you. What you have to do is cleanse your body.
Silver is great too!

In the past, my immune system has always been pretty good. I never got sick much but this fall has knocked me for a loop. I have heard of colloidal silver. A reiki practioneer recommended it for one of my dogs who has corns on his pads. Can you take this orally also?

I do know that I need more rest. My physical activity is pretty good, I am a fitness instructor although lately my workouts have been nil. It is all I can do to teach my classes :(

Pretty much all I take regularly is a multivitamin. I have resisted the impulse to go the dr. and get some antibiotics for this sinus infection. I am trying to use them as little as possible as long as this seems to stay a 'run of the mill' sinus infection without getting worse. I will definitely get some goldenseal and silver today from the co-op and up my vit c. I am also going to try the 4-herb tea. Thanks everyone

I've only seen silver applied directly to a specific external infection site. I don't know so much about taking it internally for things like sinus infections.

I know people who gargle with it and use droppers to use in the nose.

I've got it in ointment form for external use, spray form for sinuses and liquid form to be taken internally. So far the liquid form is the only one I've used.
