First, I am proud to say my 14 yrs old daughter is now 1 week meat free!
She is adjusting well and telling her friends of the animal cruelty and health benefits. :hamster: More big news my husband and I went out for dinner with his family and I was concern about how I would feel watching people eat their dead carcus. I thought being an out spoken person I might start a heated debate. When it came time to order, my husband order us two vegetarian dishes. I was so thrilled because he was teasing me that he was going to order veal. He is a big meat eater but has said he will try to make more meat free choices.:smitten: :smitten:
Also I was wondering if anyone knows if you need to have B12 in your diet everyday?
Thanks Paula

That's great about the husband and daughter!
And, yes, you need B12 everyday.
Take a look at this site:

Hey Paula,
What great news :D
And how considerate of your husband, I am happy for you.
Personally, I take vitamin b12 from solgar, 1 tablet daily to melt under the tongue, appearantly, this was it's absorbed better.

i'm under the impression that b12 can be stored by the body for a very long time, so you don't need to eat it everyday... not true?

The human body does store B12. Apparently the length of time it can be stored is highly variable person to person. Some people store and reabsorb it very efficiently, while others don't. So don't count on being able to store it for 20 years.
But I haven't seen anything suggesting that you absolutely must have it every day. (I didn't see it in broccoli's link either-- did I miss it?) If you're getting a source 2-3 times a week, I would think you're probably OK... unless you have an absorption problem, which is a different kettle of tofu!

It would be wise to secure a daily source of B12 as a vegan (sublingual tablets being the best option,) as it is unknown if synthetic forms of B12 are as readily absorbed as natural sources of the nutrient. If you are lacto-vegetarian you are most likely getting more than enough B12 from dairy products. :)
I recommend the methylcobalamin form of B-12. I take mine in the form of gumlets (from Solaray), which is much more practical for me than sublingual tablets. 1000 mcg every couple of days or so is plenty to keep those B-12 stores stocked up.
If it's been a while since you've had a B-12 supplement, or if you don't consume a lot of nutritional yeast or other fortified sources, you may want to fortify with more supplements for a while before scaling back a bit. You don't need to go overboard with it.
