I got Casper, a pink convict cichlid, almost two years ago when I worked at a petstore. His eyes had been eaten out by his tankmates and I got him before they finished him off. I feel awful for this kid but I love him. He still eats and acts like a normal fish which I think is awesome, however, he needs to be in a smaller tank to ensure that he gets his food. I wonder how a fish feels if it doesn't have any eyes. I don't know if I feel it's more important to let him have life or if he's suffering and shouldn't have to live this way. That's why I've kept him. I'm so in love with him.

Aww...cute fish, even though the pics are kind of blurry. :) I don't know much about fish, but unless he appears to be in pain or stressed out, I would assume that he's a happy little guy and you're doing the right thing by him.

I agree with the above advice. So long as Casper is eating, and behaving like a fish normally would there isn't a reason to assume he's unhappy or suffering. I think that you did a very kind thing taking him in and not letting him be killed by his tankmates.

Awww.... how sweet. Poor lil' guy...

What Brandon said - as long as he's eating/acting OK, I wouldn't think he was uncomfortable...

How thoughtful of you to care for him.

Thanks. It does feel good to hear that. Casper sure is a trooper! Usually fish die as soon as their is the slightest problem. It's amazing that he hasn't just died the way I always thought sickly fish were supposed to.
He's the reason I stopped eating fish and then eventually went veg.lol

I have 7 of them. That is very sweet of you. These fish are so pretty. I love to watch them. And they can get very big!
