:(

A River North restaurant was vandalized overnight, just hours after its owner testified against a proposed city ordinance banning the sale of foie gras in Chicago.

"I think it's not a coincidence," said Didier Durand, chef and owner of Cyrano's Bistro, 546 N. Wells St.

The incident happened sometime after the last employee closed the French bistro and went home at 11 p.m. Tuesday and about 9:30 a.m. today, when another worker showed up to open the restaurant.

The employee found a broken window, a red blood-like substance on the door and along the sidewalk, and lattices and flower boxes in front of the cafe destroyed.

Yeah, those kinds of actions don't really help the cause, do they? Why can't people just wait for the process to complete, instead of potentially alienating someone who gets to vote on it?

But this person testified against it. They're not going to vote for it anyway. Or are you speaking of alienating the community as a whole when the vote hasn't taken place yet?

(BTW, I officially have No Opinion on whether vandalism, sabotage, and other types of property crime are a good idea in support of a worthy cause. But I did read the Monkey Wrench Gang. :p )

Yeah, I meant the councilpeople who get to vote on it, that may be undecided as of yet. Hearing of these types of actions could perhaps sway them into not supporting those unlawful radical vegans or something silly like that.

That was a stupid thing to do... assuming it wasn't as set-up.

It would be great if that passed.
