What is it about the dogs you've tried that you don't like? I've never had a disagreeable veggie dog. The whole point is to slather 'em with fixxins so the dog itself is more of a condiment than the extras.

morningstar farms (not vegan; egg whites) are crap

The ones I had that I didn't like had a weird texture and didn't really taste like a hot dog. I'm a hot dog purist, just a little mustard and sometimes ketchup.

Yves Good Dogs are hands down the best. Most omnis I know can't tell that they're veggie dogs.

I'm eagerly awaiting the new Tofurkey bratwurst that are coming out soon.

Loma Linda Big Franks are the best.

I have tried many and my favorite so far is Soy Boy. I have not tried Tofu Pups but I will the next time I buy Hot Dogs. I really like Rudi's Spelt Hot Dog Buns. See the recipe discussion for a clone recipe from Deborah :) Shannon/Zimma

I do like the Morningstar Farms ones a bit--but find them a bit salty, even though I love salt! The bratworst-style ones from Boca are delish! Their directions to prepare them on the package will give you a smile, also.
My family has a tradition to serve sliced chorizos (In my case, Boca Brat's, cause they taste so good and authentic chorizo tasting, with whole spices like fennel in them!), on a hard roll with chimmi-churri. Really good stuff!
Basically a chunky vingagrette: (sp?) I usually dice up finely onion, garlic, any kind of fresh herb on hand--especially oregano, basil, coriander, even dried can be used. Use balsamic and/or white/cider vinegar, olive oil, and hot water, S&P. Whisk up, and heat on barbeque in oven-safe bowl with the veggie dogs. Slice open the hard buns and allow to toast up a bit on the grill. Slice the bratwurst. and smother bun with chimmi-churri. You gotta try this stuff!! Even before I discovered veggie dogs, I'd eat the toasted buns alone while my family munched on the real chorizos. Enjoy!

I just love "Yves Veggie Dogs" and "Yves Hot & Spicy Chili Dogs"
BBQ'd is the only way to go.

I totally agree! Even when I ate meat dogs, (ugh) that's what I did. I actually just had an Yves dog, and I put plenty of mustard and coleslaw on it! Tasted great! Also, I figured out that if you microwave them, they're not as mushy as when you boil them. I haven't tried frying them.
