Anyone have board or book suggestions for long distance cycling training to pass along?

We're considering a biking vacation and I'd like to have a training program in case we go through with it (also, I'd like to get my speed and endurance up, so I can bike the 50km return trip to the vegetarian store every other day and still want to cook supper ;) )

I tried posting a link for ya, but apparently I can't do that until I've posted 15 times here.

There's a book called "The Complete Book of Long-Distance Cycling : Build the Strength, Skills, and Confidence to Ride as Far as You Want", written by Edmund Burke and Ed Pavelka. It's on Amazon dot com.

I recommend following one of the century ride training programs to build up for a cycling vacation. You'll be fit for the trip and you can tell people you've done a century.

I've never heard of that. Is that an American thing?

Thanks for the book suggestion!

An English century is a 100-mile ride, and a metric century would be 100km, or about 62 miles, as far as I know.

cyclingforums.com and bikeforums.net are the first websites that come to mind.

Look here http://www.velogirls.com/
They have some training programs for centuries, and great cycling advice.
