I have asthma, but usually I'm fine when running so long as I take my inhaler first. Lately, though, in training for my second marathon and during the race itself, I've noticed that my shoulder, neck, back and chest muscles become very tired. This is evidently not a posture issue, since I've had that before and taken measure to correct it. What I've realized I do, though, is lift my shoulders and expand my chest in order to give my lungs a little more room. I notice that when I start to do this, my breathing is on the verge of becoming problematic. I know there is a name for these breathing muscles (like ancillary, or something similar) - does anyone know what it is? Further, does anyone else do this and have you found any method of correcting it? I don't remember having this problem before, my inhaler dosage mostly seems good, etc...
