Most people here are vegans (don't eat milk, eggs, or any other animal based ingredients.) Veal is the by-product of the dairy industry and chickens raised for eggs are packed so tightly in cages they can barely move and often become crippled. All dairy cows and egg hens are eventually eaten for food. If you want more information on this go to the peta website and type in veal or eggs and you'll understand why so many vegetarians make the transition to veganism.

A. Most people here aren't vegans. Last poll the majority here are lacto ovo vegetarians.
B. Boca doesn't make meat products, so what are you talking about?
C. Again, what are you talking about?
D. Did I mention I wanted to know what you're talking about?

Actually the boca philly cheese steak burgers are vegetarian, not vegan, so all of you "geniuses" can calm down now that you understand what I am talking about.

No one is debating the fact that the boca burgers aren't vegan. The guy was giving a review, and most of us were wondering what your post was in refer to, so keep your saddle on. Oh, and I'm calm. Cyber debating with a teen doesn't raise my stress level.

I did not know a boca cheese steak would cause such kontra'versy.

tsk tsk

dragon - I haven't seen this in stores, so I can't compare cooking methods.

OMG, where did you find these??

The year before I kicked meat, I must've eaten 200 real Philly cheesesteaks. I don't miss the extra tummy, drained energy, and such. But I liked the taste back then. The idea of the taste seems gross right now, but I'll bet Boca has a good angle on it. Please post where you've seen these.

I've seen them before just in the Boca section of the grocery store. But I couldn't find them on their website...

Amber, a lot of us here are in fact, vegetarian. Don't knock someone for liking cheese. Many of us vegetarians aren't planning on going vegan and just because we aren't vegan, there is no need for belittling us.

And yeah, I love the philly cheese steak by boca. :pibo:

I havent been able to find any boca burgers at any of the supermarkets around here. So i emailed them and they told me they discontinued their boca line! :notvegan: It upset me cuz they are my favorite veggie burgers and made it super easy to be vegetarian and later vegan.

Amber,

I dont eat veal and I buy pricey free range organic vegetarian eggs. So there. = )

PS: I'm not one of those vegetarians who will make the transition. I envy vegans and have alot of respect for them but I like cheese.

I also don't eat dairy products Amber, I'm with you all the way on this.

Try Tofurkey brand Philly steaks - they're meatless and dairy free, they cook up real good with a little oil in the pan. There so many alternatives now to dairy products, I found it real easy to do.

Well, the crappier part is the ENTIRE boca line is ending. Like, Boca will no longer exist. They told me they are selling out what they have, and thats it!!! :-/

ok, so i'm gonna ingore Amber and her poinless comment here and move back on topic:

i tried them (actually i tried Morning Star Philly Cheese Steak i think, but we could be talking about the same thing) and i did like them, my mom also said that they taste just like meat .... which is actually one of the things that freaks me out  i guess after a while i don't WANT food to taste like meat anymore... but i mean it's a good burger and when you eat it with like mayo and tomatoes and stuff it's awesome so i'm gonna shut up about it tasting like meat :) the part that keeps me from buying those again is the amount of fat, and not really the number because i ususally ignore the numbers, but it just feels very fatty and since i also put mayo on it it makes me a little sick sometimes.
but the taste is exellent  so

I emailed them, cuz the only two super markets in my town werent selling them anymore, and i figured the individual supermarkets may have stopped. I recently deleted most of my emails, so i cant post it for you guys. If you wanna investigate yourselves just email them, thats what i did. They didnt mention another company, but i doubt it. It made me so mad cuz their products are so GOOD!!! :wall:

The alternatives to dairy products are sometimes also way more expensive than to buy dairy products. Besides, dairy is found is many many products that are the easiest for us vegetarians to afford. It's so NOT cool to insult someone based upon the fact that they are "only vegetarian". Some people need to get a life and realize that this is mainly a vegetarian messageboard. Good for you for being vegan, but don't even think about pressing it onto the rest of us who can't/won't go vegan.

I didn't know I was insulting you, I thought I would write my opinion on it. I guess it's okay if some of us here don't eat dairy or meat right? Actually the Tofurkey philly style steaks weren't any higher than the other meatless products, all of it is priced pretty high.

I emailed them last week and said "I just heard a rumor that Boca is going to stop production of your whole product line, is that true?" and I got the response today:

Thank you for visiting http://www.bocafoods.com/.

I appreciate you taking the time to ask where Boca Foods product is sold. All Boca products are available nationally and more and more stores and restaurants are carrying our products every day!

To find Boca products in the stores near you, we recommend that you speak to the manager at your local grocery or health food store -- you may be surprised at the results!

I hope this addresses your question. If you have further questions about our products please visit our web site at www.bocafoods.com.

If you haven't done so already, please add our site to your favorites and visit us again soon!

Yeah that didn't really answer my question. But it doesn't sound like they are stopping production... are you sure that's what your email said??

My supermarket stopped carrying Boca stuff too, which sucks. I don't think Boca is going under, though. My supermarket just tends to be crappy

With that said I saw that philly cheese steak stuff a while back and was curious. I avoid dairy though so I doubt I'll try it anytime soon.

I make my own "philly cheese steaks" with Morningstar Crumbles and mushrooms and onions and "cheese". They are so good. My omni friends even like them. Just saute the crumbles and veggies..I sometimes add some garlic, then scoop some into a steak roll and add cheese.
