Hello all :)

Well went to my Naturopathic Doctor yesterday and got tested for over 200 things to see why I've been having stomach issues these past 6 weeks.

Well it turns out I'm sensitive to a LOT of things.....including all beans, yeast, wheat, all dairy (dont eat anyways), poultry (dont eat anyways), vinegar, some fruits, some veggies, some seeds. These tests are incredible! And upsetting.

Also sensitive to Rye, corn, quinoa, gluten, millet, kamut and barley....but oat, spelt and buckwheat are ok.

Any ideas on bread and other foods? I eat a lot of breads/bagels/pastas....but I guess not anymore, unless there is wheat free, gluten free, rye free etc etc ....is there such thing?

Brown and white rice are ok, but no basmati or wild rice.

Hmmm also no soy sauce or soy milk. But rice milk and Almond milk is ok. I already drink chocolate almond milk, but have yet to try rice. What about rice ice cream? Anyone have luck with a certain flavor? I know there is Rice Dream...but I have never tried it...

I suggested going raw vegan...she said ''no, at the moment you need lightly cooked foods, so your stomach can break them down easier.''

All these foods I am sensitive to I must avoid for 6 weeks. After that, another test will be dont to determine my true state of health. She thinks all this sensitivity may be due to too many antibiotics (for various reasons) taken in July.

Thanks for any ideas or links :)

Wow, this is really interesting. What kind of tummy issues were you having? I've been having tummy issues too, and am curious how I'd fare on a test like this.

Brown and white rice are ok, but no basmati or wild rice.

Regular basmati rice is a type of white rice. You can also find brown basmati. I can see why wild rice is a problem, though. It really isn't a rice at all, but a grass that is more close related to wheat than rice.

Are you sensitive or allergic to all this?

If it's allergies, the NAET method is amazing. And I mean amazing. The website looks a bit glary and commercial, but the theory behind it works and is used more and more (in Europe at any rate and reimbursed by medical insurance) by Medical Doctors. But you need to find an experienced and advanced practitioner to do it properly.

I know I've seen spelt bagels at Whole Foods before.

(Also, I'm not the biggest fan of "regular flavored" rice milk, but Rice Pure is one of the better brands I've tried. I like all of the chocolate brands I've tried, too---since you're already drinking chocolate almond milk, though, you might not care about choc rice milk.)

I hope this change in diet helps your tummy!

you could stop eating pastas and breads and switch your diet around a bit to find out what works better for you.

but then, i eat very little bread/pasta, so it's no big loss for me either way.

You can get oat ice cream, which tastes quite similar to Swedish Glace soya ice cream.

With regards to the pasta, bread, etc, thing - you can buy spelt pasta and bread, even spelt lasagne sheets and rice, corn, and vegetable pastas are good too. Buckwheat pasta is especially nice if you like pasta to have more of a flavour.

Great, thanks all so much!!

I'm not allergic to these items per say, but according to that test, I am very sensitive to them.

Regarding the tummy issues, I was having major pains for hours after eating (dinner, no matter what I ate) along with nausea, fatigue, bloating, chills, constipation, diarhea, gas, high bp, and rapid heart rate. After being tested for several things with my Doc, and coming up with nothing, I decided to check out a Naturopathic Dr.

For the past few weeks I have been on acifidillus (sp?) + (the good bacteria in yogurt) pills and have been taking digestive enzymes with food. The Nat Dr thinks my intestinal bacteria was destroyed from antibiotics that I had taken in July.

I do eat brown basmati now, but I really love white basmati....

I feel much better, and I hopefully will feel even more so after trying this new lifestyle. It's worth a shot anyways.

There are a ton of things out there. Buy spelt bread, pretzals etc., and eat white rice- it's better (and unhealthier) then you think. With the kinds of veggies that you can eat, make salads, stir fries, steamed and (in small amounts) eat them raw. Have fruit salads with the fruits that you are allowed to eat. Try out some other milks, and the best icecream that's made from rice milk is Rice Dreams ice cream moon pie, but that dose have a bready part to it, so read the ingreadiants. Drink some tea as well, it'll warm you up. If you LOVE fruits, or even just so-so like them, then you can have fruit smoothies, throw the frozen kinds of fruit that you can eat in the blender along with some juice. I think that Trea Huggin' Treats might be safe for you, for when you nead something sweet.

Are you not allowed to have ANY of these for a couple of weeks, or are you just suppost to LIMIT them for a few weeks?

Thanks Jennifer,

She wants me to cut them out of my diet 99% ...as much as I can. She understands it will be difficult, but she said it is possible. Oh and it is for 6 weeks...

I do love fruit. I normally eat 4-5 servings a day. She said that was ok, but I have to cut out the fruit that I'm sensitive to. (bananas and strawberries for example....my 2 favorites)

Thanks everyone for the ideas, I'm going to have to sit down and make a list to go shopping with and stop off at the health food store today.

Good luck! I know that you can do it... anyone who has the will power to go on a vegan or lacto/ovo (or just one of those) vegetarian diet, without a doctors orders- can deffently cut out some other stuff with a doctors order. Stay in their, you can do it! Don't become overwhelmed by what you can't eat, instead, look forward to what you can eat, and the new things that you can try.

Thanks Jennifer!!

So far I've been doing about 80% ....I really need to put more effort in, but sometimes I do forget and eat something I shouldn't.

Brown rice pasta and Rice Dream ice cream are very delicious btw! Thank goodness!! :)

I also am liking the spelt bread, but then i just found out it has gluten in it :(
