For about a week now I've gotten a weird "head freeze" sensation when I eat cold foods or drink cold liquids. Even cold water out of the tap is enough. The roof of my mouth toward the front gets a feeling like a head freeze when it comes in contact with said cold food and liquid. One way to avoid this is to drink cold liquids with a straw and not let the liquid sit in my mouth long enough to touch my upper palette.
Someone suggested I may have a sinus infection. I don't have many other symptoms like headaches or intense pressure. I've had a runny nose for a few days, but that's easily attributable to the colder temperatures.
Ideas? Thanks!

Hmm, so far I've gotten no ideas.

it sounds like how all of my more severe sinus infections begin, a runny nose and an extreme sensitivity to cold foods... i'd get it checked out (i'm a chronic sinus infection sufferer)

Can I tell you that I am the queen of sinus infections. Drink through a straw a lot. You do not have to have a headache or pressure for that and all.
Could it be a bad tooth? I went through this also. I go through that cold sensation that you deal with.

hmmmm... most people who have "sinus infections" do not really have sinus infections in the true sense of the thing.
even thick yellow or green snot is not enough to say you have a bacterial infection. especially if take antibiotics and keep getting them. antibiotics is usually enough to push it off for awhile because the extra mucus allows bacteria to take over, but they are not the problem in and of itself.
if you are getting sinus congestion so often i would try looking in to the real source of the problem: most likely an allergy or deviated septum.
most sinus problems can be cured with steamings, saline nasal solutions and rest.
that said, trouble with cold food could be an indication of something sinusy. the tooth problem is another good idea, like someone mentioned.
is it easy for you to go to a doctor, sklylark? i would say after another week of sensitivity, if you have no other symptoms you may want to think about that.
