10 mile run today.

Somebody in my running club died today. He had a heart attack at the mile one marker and died right there on the street. He was in a slower pace group so I did not see, but wow. You hear about these cases at various races but to have it happen on your long run?

About the speculation about the hamsters...I feel that we have gotten less traffic in general on the health forum since it was split into three different ones. I know I rarely go into all three at one time and it used to be my favorite place to check out...

Captain, I think you've hit it dead on. There has been a lot less traffic since they split up the fitness board.

Well I finished my third marathon today. It was my worst yet. I thought I would do really well this time. Besides having run a marathon this past spring, I have been training all summer, I've been training faster, I've been injury free, the weather was perfect, but it just wasn't my race. My trouble started at about 10 miles...my stomach started to hurt. It only got worse and by the 15 they told me I was at a 5 hour 11 min finish I broke down and cryed. I knew I was only going to slow down, I so wanted to finish in under 5.
I got over it as quick as I could and continued on.
My stomach ache only got worse and I walked alot. I finished in 5:37...ouch. My stomach still hurts a little.
O' well, there's always next time.

Go Hamsters!!! :vebo: :bobo: :guitar:

Congrats on another finish Slynny! I wonder what caused the stomach ache? Did you eat some weird gu on the course?

A 5:37 finish still isn't bad. (5:28 is my PR). Do you have any idea what you want to do next?

*puts ideas of Las Vegas in December in Slynny's head* :D

Hello all. I have been hamstering, but not posting as of late...

but anyway, today was a 24 mile bike ride...first 12 alone, then 8.5 in a group ride, then 3.5 home. It was nice!

captain- I'm so sorry to hear that!

slynny- Aw, I'm sorry that you were disappointed. I know that you put a lot of worki into your training...but congrats on pulling through and finishing! Take care of yourself now!

5 mile run tonight

I'm hoping that I can drag myself out of bed early enough to bike in the morning!

Captain, I'm sorry to hear about that incident.

Alright, today I did 25 minutes on an eliptical and one exercise each of biceps, triceps, shoulders, and obliques.
I realize I am starting out at a snail's pace, but one must start somewhere! I realize that I am SO not physically fit and I feel not very good about that fact. So, I am trying to change it.

I did 3 miles of running/walking. I run until I feel like I MUST stop, then I walk until my heart rate goes down to 130, then I start running again. I want to be able to run 10-12 miles like so many people on this board! But I understand it is a gradual process. I also did 52 crunches, and 52+26 of other things that are hard to describe (ab exercises that I kind of made up myself)

Well, I use to love to sit down in front of the TV, but quite honostly, I'm getting so sick of it... it's just such a big waste of life! So, today and yesturday I've been raking during my usual TV time (except for when Lost was on... heheheh, can't give that one up). But what other raking type of things can I do after fall is over... and I've raked my whole yard allready :(.

In the winter, you can shovel snow out of your driveway, if you want to. Thats pretty hard exercise. You can always buy workout videos, go jogging, and buy some hand weights for you to use. In the summer, I like to mow the lawn for exercise.
I didn't do any Hamstering today...busy with social and studying stuff! But tomorrow...

Monday: 5 mile run
Tuesday: 6 mile run
Wednesday: 6 mile run
Thursday: 3 mile run
Friday: 5 mile run so far, probably a bike ride later.

I started up my morning exersice classes again this morning. Uhg, I haven't lifted weights all summer. I'm going to be sore tomorrow.
I'm going up north to see the beautiful fall colors this weekend. I'll do some kayaking and go for a run.

*puts ideas of Las Vegas in December in Slynny's head* :D

Captain, It just so happens that I am seriously considering the Las Vegas marathon :sunny: You're doing it I'm assuming? What sort of training do you think I would need to do to maintain for it?

Go Hamsters!!:hamster:

You are? Do it!

Yep. I'm defintly going to be there. We are staying at Excailaber along with several other people from my running club. We are looking forward to it. This weekend we are doing a 16 miler then a 10, 18, 10, 20, 12, 8...I think that is what the scheudle is anyways...
It shouldn't be that hard for you to maintain from your last marathon. There are actually a couple of people that are running a local marathon in two weeks and then doing vegas. If I were you I would have taken this week off and then next weekend maybe try an 8-10 miler or something and then build from there.

It is the first year that the marathon runs down the strip. The weather should be nice to. :)

Hey ND, are you running Chicago on Sunday? I feel like I remember you mentioning that before :)

Today I did a one hour spinning class, and the lat pull, a back exercise, and a chest exercise. I was exhausted after that class though. Getting started again is rough.

3 mile run tonight.

I managed to fall on my ass and give myself a pretty good case of road rash on my bum.

annabanana
October 8th, 2005, 02:16 PM
Ouch, road rash  Take good care of that, Captain! Not exactly the most comfortable place to have it, unfortunately...

18 mile ride for me and 2 mile walk today. It was pretty chilly out there, though I know this is just the beginning!
