Yo! I started some petitions up for the Vegans here. One is for Eighth Continent to stop putting D3 in their soymilk (GRRR!)

The other is for Morning Star to stop the Egg-white craze in their meatless dishes. These things bothered me... How about you? It may not do much, but please sign it!

I totally agree, and signed both. Another issue that I have is with Spectrum Naturals - They use a gelatin capsule for their Flax Oil Supplements. That is so weird. Don't people get together and discuss this stuff before they throw it on the production line and slap a label on it? Vegetarians and vegans are probably going to be a huge part of the population that buys flax oil supplements, but most vegetarians and vegans won't buy them if they are in a gelatin capsule. It's so wacky that these companies often don't seem to get that kind of stuff.

Thanks for signing the petitions! And, you are totally right.

Most products that say All Natural are tricky. Watch out for those! Also, as you stated, many capsules and such that are supplemental, all have lactose and/or gelatin. Well... Much may not happen due to the petitions, but I am hoping we can at least get them to realize how much harm those ingredients are doing.

PLEASE! We need more signatures. Tell your friends and family... I really want to get this across to some companies.

Thanks, guys! I figured, on an all vegetarian message board (well, mostly) we would have more people signing. *Shrug* Four so far. Spread the word!

So I know this isn't really the right thread for this, but I wanted to let everyone know that I wrote Spectrum Naturals an email on 9/22/05, and they have totally disregarded it. I know that I didn't ask for a response in the email, but isn't it just professional to at least *acknowledge* emails? Here is the email, let me know what you think:

"Hello,

I would like to suggest providing your flax oil supplements in a vegetable based capsule instead of a gelatin based capsule. The gelatin, being an animal product, is prohibitive to vegans and most vegetarians. If you make this change, I am pretty sure that your supplement sales will increase. Most people that eat meat also eat fish, which will provide them with the necessary omega-3's. Because the main source of omega-3's in a vegan/vegetarian diet is flax oil, I am assuming that vegans and vegetarians are probably your target consumers. Some of us use the actual oil, but many, including myself, would prefer to take a capsule because it is more convenient. Thanks for the opportunity to share my opinion!"

I hope that more people will sign the petitions that AussyJ organized. It is so important for companies to be informed about what we want. I think that it is more effective when more than one person gets together to inform a company about what they want. Please sign the pettitions!!! Please Please Please.

I don't think these petitions do much. Does anybody have mailing addresses?

I know they may not do much, but they are worth a try. The mailing address of the companies should be on their website. Please sign the petition, guys! While it may not help at all, it is worth a try. Besides, we can only gain from them, no losing involved! :D Thanks to those who signed them already.
