A wonderful version of home fries without all the fat. These fries are good hot or cold and make an excellent afternoon snack! Experiment and vary the seasonings. For example, for spicy Mexi-fries blend 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon chipotle chili powder or cayenne; add 1 teaspoon paprika and sprinkle over fries after mixing the oil with the fries. Or, for curried fries, omit paprika, and sprinkle 2 teaspoons curry powder over fries and mix in

That is a great recipe. You can also try adding other seasoning such as lemon pepper to give the sweet potato another taste.

LOVE THESE! Made them last night (well, my version, since I rarely follow recipes too closely) - they were SO yummy!

We put lemon pepper and chili powder on them :lick:... My kids inhaled a huge pan of them and were so bummed that there weren't more...

Yep, gonna have to make this. We'll probably have it as the main dish, though....

Do you peel the sweet potatoes or leave the skins on?

I've done this, but with powdered ginger (the spice) instead of the paprika. Yummy.

I found this recipe a while ago, but forgot to post here. I make these all the time now. They go really well with chili or veggie burgers. :lick:

Along with the paprika, I also add chili powder, cumin and garlic powder.

I made these and served them with stuffed eggplant. A big success and everyone loved them! :)

Can they be made just in a frying pan or pot? I don't have an oven.

Don't think a pot would work too well, but you could do them in a toaster oven ... which you'll want if you're buying a breadmaker. :D

Or you could come up to my place, bake two trays, and leave one for me! :D :D :D

Mmm.... we just got some homegrown sweet potatos given to us... so I made these. I didn't cut them into fries though, baked fries I generally slice into "Coins." My mother wouldn't eat them not smothered in vinager and salt, my brother was grumpy from the soup I tried to make him eat ("I don't like sweet potatoes!") but me and my dad were happy to eat them all by ourselves :)

I love sweet potato fries!! I put the slices in a big ziploc bag and shake it with the oil and seasonings and that works very well. I use olive oil, salt, lots of cinnamon, a dash of pepper, and a sprinkle of tubinado sugar or a little maple syrup. I always dip them in pure maple syrup. YUM!
