Good for Martha. I guess when you are in jail, you have time to read your mail. :D

That's great!! Spending time in jail seems to have changed her a lot.

I'm somewhat skeptical as to whether this is actually how she feels or if she's just doing it as a publicity stunt, but at least she isn't wearing fur, regardless of her motives.

I'm thinking the same thing.

I certainly think it is 'a good thing'!
You can watch the Martha Stewart Fur feature @http://www.furisdead.com/feat-martha.asp You can also send it to friends via the site.

Martha’s online testimony is designed to be e-mailed to family or friends who may still wear fur, as well as to celebrities, stylists, fashion editors, and other Martha Stewart fans. “So much violence in the world seems beyond our control,” says Martha, “but this is one cruelty we can stop by being informed consumers.”
You go grrrl!

This is a GREAT step forward. Martha is such a huge role model to many fur wearing ladies.

PETA has the uncanny ability to turn "caring" celebrities into carnivorous veg bashers. We'll see.

Okay good comment, laughing, but so true. Do not call me crazy but tonight I saw some commercial about a Donald trump thing. She was doing the business. I was shocked about this. I hope I saw this commercial right. I forget when it was coming on.

Good for her anyway!! Jail awalys seems to bring out the good side of people. I guess they just have all that time to think.

Now don't forget what you've just said six months from now when everyone else is calling Martha Stewart an uncaring ***** bitch because she cooked veal on her next tv show.

Celebrities should never be made into role models.

I don't see any reason to think she isn't sincere. Anti-fur is an issue her daughter has been behind for awhile, from what I've read.

The only problem with celebrities being role models is that they are imperfect, like everyone else. But as others have mentioned, if they can have any sort of positive affect on their audience, then that's (as Martha would say) a good thing.

So good job, Martha.

Celebrities should never be made into role models.
Maybe they shouldn't, but they are because of their influence. I think if you choose to live your life in the lime light, then you sort of inherit the responsibility of being a role model. It just comes with the "celebrity" territory. I mean most celebrities live lives most of us could only dream about, the least they can do to give back is to try and create positive change where they can, in MHO.

I have no doubt that this move was, in part, a ploy for free publicity as her new television shows are premiered. Martha, is, after all, a very shrewd business woman. However, the good news is that she is not wearing fur, and she does influence a great many people with the financial resources to wear fur.

In a way, I really admire Martha Stewart. She is very good at reinventing herself, and she has turned what could have been an empire killer (her conviction and stint in prison) into an opportunity to present herself as a better person. Heck, maybe she really is a better person.

Haha, I'm not so sure about that jail comment, but ya, it's amazing what a letter can do, despite the fact that Martha does a lot for charity ;)
