So, me and my friend found a young pigeon who had fallen from it's nest. We knew you're technically supposed to leave them alone, but this one was next to a road (eek), with a flat pigeon on it (parent?), and dogs/charvers likely to walk past. We dithered for a while, but our decision was made for us when a dog went for it and I grabbed it.
I've got it eating and drinking. We're looking for someone to take it off our hands. No name , I'm trying very hard not to get attached.
I don't even like pigeons, but I couldn't just let it die.

Do a search on wildlife rehabilitation centers in your area and make a phone call. They will have much greater ability to make sure it stays healthy.

So what happened with the baby pigeon? Just curious.

Call you local pigeon rescue group. You may have to fill out 18 pages of personal information about you and the pigeon, but they will know what to do with it.

I have been offline for a while. The pigeon is still with me, still healthy, and is growing more feathers at an alarming rate. I'm just not sure what to do with it when it can fly. It knows no fear

The lady off bettatalk.com ended up raising a baby pigeon she found, you might see if she'll share any info with you, she also has some general stuff on her site. Good luck with the little guy :)

Young pigeons remain flighless for a while and stay grounded, while still being cared for by their parents for a while. The best thing you can do for it is return it to an area near where you found the pigeon and watch from a distance to see if a parent returns. If the bird imprints on you and you release it, it will most likley die because of it's attachment to the human predators.
