This product is amazing. If you've never tried this make up, I suggest you give it a shot. The name says it all; this make up is made up of just minerals from the earth. No preservatives, added color, nothing. Also, the company doesn't test on animals. So, in essence, it's vegan friendly! This lightweight make up covers up any scars, broken capillaries, and imperfections. QVC sells it cheapest.

My testimonial:
My aunt gave me her Bare Essentuals makeup because it was too light on her. I didn't believe it covered as well as they said it did because it looks just like pressed powder. I'm used to the cover up pressed liquid powder stuff...it always did the job well. I used to use Cover Girl, and then I switched to cruelty free-Almay. So I used the Bare Minerals with nothing else under or over it...and within 2 weeks, my face has drastically cleared up most of the blemishes/acne I used to get on the sides of my cheeks. I think back to the makeup I was using, those added chemicals and all those tri-whatevers you could never pronounce were just clogging the hell out of my pores and making my face worse. Don't be fooled by the size of it either....because it lasts for a very long time, sincerely. The amount you use on your brush is small, and it covers evenly, and better yet, it doesn't feel like make-up! It's soft.
I stand by this product now.... and I wanted to let others know, in case they haven't found a good quality make up to suit them best.
P.S. Has anyone tried this make-up before, what are you thoughts on it?

No, can't say I have, I heard the brushes were made out of animal hair, am I mistaken?

I saw an ad and remember seeing lanolin in the ingredients. That comes from a sheep's wool. I could be wrong, but that's why I wrote it off as non-vegan in my mind.

I am not certain on the brushes, but I'm not implying the brushes, I am only referring to the make-up itself. You don't have to buy the brushes, obviously. There is a BareMinerals SPF 15 Powder Foundation Refill, which is just the container of make up. I don't prefer to use those brushes, simply because they are expensive.
The BareMinerals SPF 15 Powder Foundation contains no animal by products, or synthetic additives. According to QVC's inventory, the Ingredients are as follows:
Bare Minerals Foundation Ingredients:
Bismuth Oxychloride, Mica, Iron Oxide
Bare Minerals Foundation May Also Contain:
Titanium Dioxide
I still suggest anybody who is having skin problems, or who is looking for a good quality make-up, to try this product

Yeah, I remember them specifically stating Bare Minerals had no lanolin on the infomercial.

I dont like Bare ID Minerals. It broke me out completely and make my face look cakey.
Some people liked how it look on me, all nice and smooth, but i think otherwise.

Where can you buy it, aside from online?

Around here, Bare Escentuals have their own stores in a few malls, and the makeup is also sold at a chain beauty store called Ulta.
The mineral foundation powders are vegan, the brushes and lipsticks are not.

I use the foundation powder and the mineral veil.
Love it. Love it. Love it. Can't say enough good stuff about it.
I never used to use any type of foundation at all... but as I aged, my skin got blotchier and spottier. Yay. Anyway... this product is great! I've been using it for over a year.
1. Coverage is easy to control. A few quick swipes of the brush (urban decay makes a really good vegan one) for light, daytime coverage. If I want heavier coverage, I just brush on a little more.
2. It's super natural looking. I'm not heavy-handed with it. I get a lot of people who say to me, "Your skin is so glowing--and you don't wear makeup!" LOL They always think I'm au naturale when, in reality, I am wearing Bare Minerals!
3. It's easy. I am a makeup doofus. But it's really hard to mess this up.
4. It feels light. Other foundations I've tried make my face feel "heavy." I barely notice I'm wearing this!

Are all mineral makeup the same? I have ordered samples of Aromaleigh and have been using it for awhile now and it hasn't helped my skin at all. I like that it is light but seems like it is making my face worse. Just wondering if you or anyone knows if all mineral makeup are the same. :)

I just bought this on Saturday (9/17) at Sephora. I was running out of my usual foundation & had been wanting to try something like this for a while. I was using a blemish control foundation but still getting the shinies in the middle of the day. I've noticed since I've been using this -- no shinies! (Yay!) I've been using either liquid or compact foundation since I was 17 or 18 (in my mid thirties now) so the application technique is a bit awkward for me right now but I'm sure it will be second nature in about a month. I think it does look really natural and doesn't compete w/my red lipstick.

For that kind of money the make-up needs to come with a make-up artist to put it on! :D
I don't wear make-up often enough to make it worth spending that much money. Yikes. $60 for foundation?!?! I think I'll stick to just using an SPF moisturizer.

Eeek! Too expensive!
How many days of average daily use would this get you though?

I use it and the foundation lasts an average of 6 months. The mineral veil lasts even longer (8-10 months).

For me, the foundation lasts a year! (I'm light-handed, though, and don't wear it every day). The mineral veil lasts twice as long.

Where did you see that price? I've been using Bare Minerals for a couple of years now. The foundation I buy is only $25 and it lasts almost a year. If you don't have a boutique locally...try QVC.

Yeah I don't think the price is to bad myself. When you buy one of the kits with the brushes its about $65 for the cheapest but you get 10 pieces. You can buy individual items though you don't have to buy the kit. When I think about how much I spend on makeup & makeup tools now its really not much cheaper than the Bare Minerals especially if it lasts as long as you all say.

I guess it is just that I wear make-up about twice a year (at the most) ... so for me it would be pretty absurd to spend any great deal of money on it.

Well my sister got her makeup she is totally ecstatic I'm no so much:| . She brought it over last night & applied it for me. The make up felt really nice & had great coverage & color but.... OK I'm 30 so I have this line under each of my eyes that usually you cant see but this make up seemed to accentuate it my face looked kinda chalky to me & dry. I don't know maybe it would have been different if I applied it myself my sister does wear a little more than I do my skin tends to be clearer than hers. At this point I'm not willing to spend the money to experiment. I was so excited to :(

I've been interested in trying this stuff for a while.
I have very oily skin. For anyone who uses this stuff and has oily skin, do you find that it lasts all day or does it have to be reapplied?
Thanks

I have oily, acne-prone skin, but also have dry areas. The mineral veil needs to be reapplied to control shine. I think with a little oil it does better and doesn't look cakey or like you've put flour on your face.

I have oily skin. I apply it in the morning, and if I have a long day...I'll get my oil absorbing facial tissue made by burt's bees. It's also vegan friendly. Then I'll re-apply a light dusting of the powder again, if I feel like it.

I am overhauling my makeup and have been for the last week, trying to see what's safe and what's not. I called them on the 28th (at 3:11, I am keeping a journal of emails and conversations to hold people accountable if I find out otherwise) and they said that all products are vegan except the brushes that have goat hair (cruelty free she made sure to tell me, I was like yeah, yeah, heard that before.) I never tried their powders but I adore their eyeshadows. They go on super smooth unlike any others that I ever have had, try Pacific Heights first. It's a staple of mine.
