Click this site to see field pic's. Some are sad, of dead animals that were left behind, but many are of happy doggies & kitties.

What I don't get is how do they know the animals were abandoned? Maybe the owners are dead too....

Yeah how do they know? :)
If they keep posting pics maybe the owners will be able to find them through the website. Hopefully before the animals are placed.

gaya,
They do this despite the fact they are under fire by all kinds of right-wing groups. My conspiracy theory drunk carnivore neighbor brought over a NRA piece of bull**** with PETA's logo laughing saying he got my mail.
Drunken jerk he is and crazy as a loon. I am moving soon.

Yea I know. It’s all so political. Err, your neighbor…good idea to get away but what a pain.

If they're truly doing it for the animals, I'd say good for them. But from everything about PETA that I've seen, they seldom if ever are interested in the animals more like $$$ and an agenda.
And by the way things were written, I'd say they're angling for more funds. Talking about these animals being left behind, like the owners had an option? As we all know the ones doing rescue were not allowing animals to come with. And IMO that is sad but neccessary, humans should and always will come first.

Their "agenda" is to save animals through many different means - that is their political agenda "nuthead." The people who work there make relatively little money, you can search this info specifically.
You may not like their campaigns, but there is nothing to indicate that they do what they do for reasons other than to help animals. Debate like this really goes in the compost heap, not this forum.
Okay, who would tie their dog up inside their house before leaving? That's just screwed up.

Why wouldnt they Truly do it for the animals? I hate it when people say stuff like Peta is only there for political reasons... common. We all know 100% theyre there for Animals ONLY, if youd like to argue that theyre not there for humanitarian efforts, thats fine, ill agree they are not. Im glad to know that they put all of their efforts into help for animals around the world though :bobo:
^^^Me too! I get really sick of people downing on PETA. The org may not be perfect, but they do A LOT for animals. They may very well be interested in gaining political strength, but any org has to have ploitical strength to order to make change.

Can't say anything good about PETA after I found out they were killing orphan dogs because they don't feel people should have them as pets.Hypocrits!

I just had a petition against the PETA people in Ahoskie, NC sent to me by a very good friend. What should I do? I am disgusted at the individuals in this case but do you think the petition is a good one to sign? Have you seen other ones?
Now I agree PETA has done good , and have said that before, but this act was not cool with me.

Cantalope, I feel like you might be misinformed. PeTA takes in millions of animals and there is no way they can care for them all. It's just impossible. They HAVE to euthanize them. I wonder what you would do if faced with the same situation. Let them starve to death?
HaasAvocado, I would not sign the petition. I hope that those people who improperly disposed of the bodies get a couple years in prison, but I don't think it is a reflection of PeTA at all.

Is there a seperate ptition just addressing the actual perpetraitors of this disturbing situation?
Thanks again,

I think i may have missed something. I was under the impression that the animals were killed at the shelter and peta was supposed to pick them up and dispose of the bodies (which they did a terrible job). Are you looking for a petition to stop kill shelters or one to demand proper disposal of animal bodies?
Just to add, I'm pretty sure it's illegal to randomly throw away bodies so what's the purpose of starting a petition for a law already in place?

that the PETA employees killed the animals which were deemed adoptable and examined by a vet before they took them and put them down with some drugs. So, I believe PETA employees killed them.
So, yes, I am against killing anything especially when there is alternatives, and the disposal was pretty horrid. I support "no kill" unless it is a matter of suffering such as terminally ill.

This subject has gotten way off topic and has been rehashed repeatedly elsewhere on VB. Please get back on topic.

Gaya,
Have you signed the petition? I was pondering it but I wish it were not so broad in its' condemnation of PETA as a whole.
What do you think?

Agreed, we do go on tangents, I take it you are not signing the petition the Amy.
But what would George Bernard Shaw do? WWGBSD
