View Full Version : Who's going to watch GWB tonight?
Just out of curiosity, who plans to watch the Presidential Speech tonight? What are your expectations?

He is going to speak at 9:00 (eastern I think). I am going to listen to his speech because I am interested to hear what kind of aid that is going to be offered to the citizens of the Gulf Coast.

thanks!!
I'm going to watch - and I'm going to try to watch objectively. GW usually does better when his speech writers get involved.

I'm not going to watch. I find his mannerisms extremely annoying. I'll read a transcript of it later.

I'm just glad he didn't cut into survivor I really don't care what he says....
I'll probably read the transcript later. He just makes my blood pressure go up.

*gasp* I thought it was a good speech. They interviewed LA citizens right after it aired and almost all of them said they liked it and that it brought hope for them. Yes, yes, I know everyone will say that he just has an agenda behind it, but I still thought he did a good job.

I find him tedious to listen to, and this one was no different.
I think he said what he thought he had to say. I just hope that he doesn't let all of his rich friends redevelop NO so that it becomes a white, wealthy city. But I can't imagine they're planning to pour all of this money into it to bring back the evacuees...

I'm not going to watch, but I may read a transcript later. I got plans tonight--shall we say it's more fun to participate in two-stepping than to watch it.

I make it a habit of never watching the current president of the unites states speak. When I accidentally happen to catch him speaking, I try and change the station before hearing very much of what he's saying. I started this self protective practice after his first few 'presidential' speeches made me want to bang my head against the wall or pull my hair out...and when backsliding for a while during the beginning of the War on Iraq (WOI), where he coined the phrase "shock and awe" made me want to bleed myself with leeches.
It's self preservation.

I can handle the clips of GWB that NPR plays. Unlike some venues, they generally provide a counter-analysis of the situation.
I do have to say one thing for the man--he's pretty consistent. Not that his worldview is completely consistent (whose is?), but we're not too surprised by much of what he has done and said in the public eye lately.
