This seemed like the most appropriate forum to put this in.

My friend has found a little nest (?) of 3 baby rabbits in her backyard. They must be just new born because when she first saw them she thought they were moles ;)

It appears that the Mama Rabbit is no longer coming to the nest because my friend had noticed her in the yard prior to finding the nest.

We were wondering if this is normal for rabbits to abandon their babies, or if the human scent might have scared the Mama away.

Hopefully the wise people of Veggieboards can answer the questions!

Thanks!

Oh dear. I hope you don't have the same unhappy experience that Jenna did recently. http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=40387

Thanks Amy!

There was a great link posted that I will forward to my friend.

I really hope the bunnies will be o.k...

How old are the baby rabbits? Rabbits abandon their young VERY early. They ween them very fast. I've lived in the country all my life and baby rabbits are everywhere. There were times my dad would be working and they'd jump on his feet because they were so young and werent really afraid of much yet. They're usually weaned in a few weeks and left on their own. I tried to post a link to some info but it wont let me!
