I am so excited, had to share. I rescued him on Friday and picked him up at the vet today. He is so perfect for my family and so sweet. A 9 month old collie mix.

He loves my kids. He just layed there beside them on the floor and watched them do homework. He took one of my daughters pens and held it in his mouth. It was so cute!!!

My family loves him. He sits a little if you tell him and has been doing good about the potty thing outside.

He follows me everywere. Loved to watch me cook dinner tonight and has a hearty appitite! Especially since he got fixed today.

My cats on the other hand, well, :sealed: Ya got the deal. They are funny and mad about the dog at the same time. I am sure they will adjust. My cats are still loving on me, so I don't think they are mad.

It felt so good to save this dog. He had been there for 2 weeks in a cage. He seems to love his new home.

It is a great feeling.

That's good to hear. It's always fun to watch all the things a new pet does. They always seem so cute.

Congrats on getting the dog! :vebo: What's his name?

9 months is the prime age for some serious obedience classes. :D How old are your kids? Getting them involved in the training/classes can be great for both the dog and the kids.

His name is Corky. (or should I call him Lassie? lol) After a dog that meant so much to me about 10 years or so in my past life.

My daughter is 13, son 8, and step daughter 7. I really do not have the money for an obedience class, nor do I know how much it cost. I guess since I am not working now, I will give him the best shot at training.

I understand not being able to afford classes (they run between $80 to $200 for 8 weeks in my area). I was lucky enough to have help from friends and family so that I could afford to attend rally and agility classes.

But, you don't really have to go to classes to do obedience work. I trained my dogs using stuff I read in books and on the internet. My favorite website is dogpatch.org because it has links to all kinds of great training information.
Also, if you have any 4H groups in the area, they often do obedience training classes and events for kids (free or low-cost)--13's a perfect age if she's interested in that. (Actually, the dog in my avatar is a former foster of mine who just won awards in agility and obedience and he was trained in 4H by the family's 14yo daughter).

Good luck and have fun with Corky!

Congratulations on getting a new member of the family! :hamster: I wish I had a dog, but my living circumstances don't allow for one. :(

Awww we had a St Bernard but he died a couple of months ago, he was about 16 years old. I so want another but my mum won't let me. As soon as me and my boyfriend get a house with a garden, I'm going straight to the RSPCA to get one.
