The idea was sold to me this morning by Jack Osbourne in an interview. He went into great detail about ‘grooves in the colon’ and ‘mucus linings’ and how much 'cleaner' he feels. I believe he said "You see some crazy **** come out during colonic irrigation"

Hmm, quite put off by the thought that that hideous pig (although now a thinner hideous pig, granted) has a cleaner bottom than me.

So what is it like?

It is not that bad, but do some reading first!! Some schools of thought are very against it, but I have never had a bad experience. Another way of removing the impacted matter is the "master cleanse", and still another way is a product called "colon blow" no kidding! You can find the original book on Master cleansing if you google master cleanse pdf Or visit colonblow.com These 2 methods are very different! I am on day 9 of the master cleanse, bur may try the other method after I stop it. Whatever you decide to try, let us know, and feel free to ask questions!

Note: it's only cool to brag about it if you're a celebrity...being as they're something like gods. Ordinary people should just keep it to themselves or they'll get looks of disgust...

honestly, I have heard bad things about having this procedure done. most doctors would tell you that they're unnecessary and can even be harmful...people have died from colonics, though that might be something different.

It is just starting to bother me, the thought of my disgusting colon.

Do a colon cleansing diet.

That colonic irrigation is dangerous. It the pressure is too high you could do so serious damage. Plus, there are good bacterias and mucus's that are washed out, which some times creates more problems.

I have read up extensively on enemas, colon mucus, what causes mucoid plaque and the dis-eases that it perpetuates. It really is a serious thing that almost everyone has, although I don't want to give advice on how to go about accomplishing removal, from what I read it definately seems to be something that needs to be adressed. Various conditions can insue from this such as mal-nutrition, cancer and various degenerative dis-eases and it has been said that possibly most degenerative dis-eases could be caused by the buildup. An excellent book to reference is Cleanse & Purify Thyself. It explains in great detail a to z, all of the factors involed on this subject and how to remove it.

I know, I have images of all these horribly toxic stones hiding in there, but the reality is, if you have a healthy veg*an diet that is high in fibre and low in processed foods then your colon is probably nice and pink and clean and working properly, and an irrigation won't do anything more for you than an enema!

EDIT: Just noticed me and BH posted to opposing statements on the same quote, so just letting you know, for the record, mine was just an opinion rather than medical fact.

For some reason your hyphens in "diseases" and "malnutrition" made me laugh out loud.
It's 7:30 am and i'm coming up on the end of a 10 hour work shift. I'm allowed to be irrelevant.

Oh, by the way, I did the master cleanse. I stopped at the end of my 7th day. I didn't get any results or side effects other than bloodshot eyes.

I have to agree with iceflower, it's probably not necessary in your case. Plus, aren't those potentially harmful if you don't need them?

Warning: Thread Hijack ahead

Hmm.. this has got me interested. I skimmed through the Master Cleanse/lemonade diet and it states it's a great reducing diet as well as cleansing diet. But after 10+ days of drinking nothing but the lemonade mix and water, wouldn't you immediately gain back any weight you may have lost as soon as you go off the diet?

Umm.. yeah, here's your thread back :o

Thanks -- I was about to post the quackwatch link.

Good articles. Definitely something that people considering colonic irrigation should read.

in the yoga tradition, we avoid colonics because of the water pressure and the damage that that water pressure can cause.

instead, we do a series of kriyas, or cleansing techniques that include dietary practices, various cleansing practices (including swallowing guaze and letting it pass through the body or drinking salt water and cleansing the colon in that way), various muscular exercises (often called 'stomach churning,' but you're really moving the muslces of the abdomen to massage the intestines), and ultimately a process whereby one fills a basin with water, uses their muscle awareness to draw open the anus, places a small, clean tube in the anus, and then uses the anal and abdominal muscles to draw water in and then release it back out through the tube.

the whole process of kriyas can take well over a week, but i generally only practice the last two quarterly. First, i drink salt water and let my boyd process that. And then, i sit on the toilet for the better part of the morning. Then, the next day, i do the second exercises, sans the tube because i have enough control of my anal muscles that i don't need it.

if you want to learn the kriyas, good idea to find a well trained yoga teacher who can guide you through the process. india is a good place to look, though there are many indian teachers here in the west who also know.

I don't see how you'd need one, I mean assuming you poop on a regular basis that should take care of everything....otherwise, why not just take some stool softeners?

I think some people do it so they can stick something in their butt and not feel like a perv.

Wow, he doesn't even look like the same person....I've wanted to try it for years. My plan was to do it when I turned 18 but I just forgot about it.
