It's been a long search for a good, natural, economical toothpaste that is animal friendly. I live in Canada and not sure about the US- but up here the natural and/or cruelty free brands cost a fortune and they seem really tiny compared to mainstream tubes out there. I found Dr. Kens toothpaste the other day and it was reasonably priced, no animal ingredients or testing, natural flavours etc- so I bought some. I'm impressed. Good taste, feels good after I brush etc. I'm just so happy to have found one I can not only afford, but feel good about using as well. Anyone else tried it?

make sure any toothpaste you buy has flouride in it. not only should a paste clean your chompers, it should also help to prevent caries.

That's one thong I love about this brand- it DOES have flouride which alot of other animal friendly ones, do not. It's a good buy all around! (it comes in flouride free too)

meh, there's plenty of flouride in noth american drinking water, i think flouride free toothpaste is a better option, but i haven't found anything conclusive about which is better for health

Technically our bodies don't need flouride, they need flourine in trace amounts. Flouride is allegedly responsible for some problems when people get too much, which is possible if you swallow your toothpaste/use a flouride rinse very often and swallow any. Like SKA said, we get plenty in our drinking water (and any processed foods prepared with flouridated water).
