Okay first off my name is karena, 14, 5`3. Weigh around 97-100. I look like a stick but i eat and i eat and i eat. I just don`t know what i eat go! I mean yeah, i love to excerise hardcore. I love sports, i got all the way al basketall and vball. I love them both, im very competitive when it comes to my basketball. But my dad says that since im so skinny i shouldn`t work as hard. lol i thought this was odd, well i look awfully weak for a girl who works out and all that crap. I can`t surely play football with the guys anyday of the week! Like i eat and excerise, shouldn`t i look healthy? Well why don`t i? A lot of ppl say that i look very skinny and i agree and im becoming a little self consious now. lol i know a lot of ppl who wouldn`t mind to look like me and wouldn`t mind to "merg" with my type of body but anywho i want to gain a little weight. My goal is 110. Hardcore muscles though not just meat or anything, muscles up to 110 pounds. I know my self, my mom says i should stop it with the sports a little since i got to practice 5 days a week for vball now and well i just can`t stop and it`s not effective not to exersice for me! I know ppl who eat`s junk food for 5 days straight and not exerise and gain about 4 pounds! Who are those ppl my friends. they whine, they groan, they do everything to annoy me that they gained 4 pounds in less than 5 days. Well why can`t i be like that? Why can`t i just sit down and eat a mess of junk food and gobble down everything in my sight, wait it out a little for about a week and gain like 10 lbs already?! What should i do to be healthy and gain a little weight?? I will keep this updated as well, i will weigh my self every 3 days and see if i gain anything or went down. =( Am i like anorexic or something?? Geez i sure feel like it..im a walking stick literally well not really hehehee but yeah. /= anyone who can help me, love ya!

you could be an ectomorph, which naturally look skinny. many ectomorphs eat high-calorie diets (from healthy foods)--probably about 2000 or 2200 calories per day for you. weight training twice a week will help you put on muscle.

When I was your age I was the skinny girl that everyone constantly told to put on weight. At 14 I was 5'5" and 100 pounds. Now at 25 I am 5'7" and 135 pounds, which is considered "ideal" for my height. It could just be that you're young and active. I'd say for now, just focus on eating and living healthily, and until you're full. Being "underweight" does not necessarily equate to being unhealthy.
Don't worry about other people harrassing you to put on weight if you are honestly eating plenty. I listened to them and intentionally gained 50 pounds, the effects of which I still feel. I later took all the weight off (that's another story) and over time just let my weight take a natural course and here I am. :)

You are 14 years old! I know it seams like you should be totally developed by now, but most girls don't really "fill out" until late high school early college. Give it time, your body will catch up. And one day you might even fondly recall the days when you could eat and eat and eat and never gain an ounce. I used to be that way...then I turned 23...now if i eat too much junk...I gain it right away.
Besides being young, every body is different. If your body likes to be skinny, then thats what you will do. If you are strong and feel heathly, and are getting enough calories for how much you exercise then you are doing everything you can.
You could try some protien drinks, that will help build muscle a little, but at fourteen...i would just say keep doing what you are doing and you will grow into it.
No you're not anorexic because you eat a healthy amount everyday.

I second the protein drinks. If you aren't vegan, than you can have drinks like Ensure or whey protein drinks. If you are vegan, they make brown rice, hemp, and soy protein drinks. I wouldn't overdo with them, but with weight training, they can give you more muscle.

You need protein, protein is what builds muscle. Not eating meat is making it hard to get the proper amount of protein, so find a protein shake that agrees with your dietary ambitions.

uhhhhh..... not eating meat does not equal hard to find protein.
try some weight bearing exercise karena! can you lift weights? do yoga? what about swimming or rock climbing? i found that wehn i was running, biking, and rollerblading, and playing soccer, i couldn't gain mass, even though those are all weight-bearing exercises, they're aerobically based. However, when i eased up on the aerobics and added some anaerobic exercise - for me was yoga and rock climbing - my mass went up, but my body shape and size didn't really change (FTR i'm 5' and 105 pounds, before i was 5' and 97 pounds).. i gained visible muscle.

Seriously? Just keep on doing some muscle building exercise or whatever you enjoy exercise wise and eat like it is a peanut butter food fest. Eat lots of everything. Protein is good for building muscle yes, but calories are even better. Try to aim for a MINIMUM of 5 meals a day if you just can't eat anymore, but if you can gooble up that bag of nut mix.
But, like everyone else said...you are 14. Teenage years = fast metabolism and lots of energy and you will likely fill out later. Don't try and gain weight in one day because it won't happen. Gaining takes time...a lot of time actually for people like us.
Don't get concerned with counting calories either. Just eat more than you think you should if you are worried about eating too little :). Counting calories equals hell.
Also...go to your local store with someone and get some Bolthouse Farm's Perfect Protein drink and drink that a lot. It is REALLY good :).

funny Meatless at 14 i was 5'5" and 100lbs and now at 25.. er.. i'm at 5'5" and 100lbs
i really need to get my butt back to the gym. i gained 10 lbs just from weight training and eating properly. i stopped going to the gym (summer's pretty busy for us with the bf's biking, just haven't had time to go) and got lazy with my eating and i lost it all again. pah.
what to remember about excercising, even if it's daily fun stuff like sports at school: eat carbs before and protein after. carbs before excercise will give you energy to burn instead of burning off fat that you can't afford to lose. protein afterwards will help rebuild muscle. when you use your muscles to the point of being sore the next day really it's cause you've damaged them (not in a bad way) protein will repair them and once muscle is repaired it gets stronger each time. that's why when people are losing weight they life smaller amounts of weight with more reps to burn more fat, and people gaining weight lift bigger weights for fewer reps, it's more stress on the muscles, more to repair
basically keep a clif bar or luna bar with you at school, after gym class or sports gobble it ASAP and bring a high-carb lunch like pasta or rice
eta: you shouldn't worry about weight training at your age though, it's not recommended for boys under 15 or girls under.. what is it 17? 18? anyway it can cause stress to developing reproductive organs, and possibly interfere with normal growth (why gymnasts always look like 14 year old girls even when they're my age)

Since you're still at a young age, your body probably hasn't finished growing yet. I have a lot of friends that were bone thin when we were 13-14, and now they've filled out just the way they wanted to...some of them complain about wanting to lose weight now =P
I'd say as long as you're healthy, then you're fine...remember, metabolism usually slows down with age...I know mine has
