Froggy wears boots that I am sure are vegan, but have no idea if they're steel toed... I'll ask him.

Payless has affordable Stanley (and also store brand) steel-toe shoes. Some are leather, but I'm pretty sure you can get some made of man-made materials. (I used to work there.) Good luck!

We just picked up the Stanley steel-capped boots from Payless for my husband a couple months ago. They're man-made and OSHA approved. They were only $25 bucks because the box was all messed up, but they're usually around $30. He works in a machine shop for about 10 hrs a day, so they get a lot of abuse and they've been holding up good.
