View Full Version : So is there a new policy about fun threads?

Or do we have a moderator too thin-skinned to handle anything remotely resembling criticism?

My CapitalistSwine thread did not violate the TOS, and I would like a public explanation about why it was removed.

Oh,and to whomever did remove it, doing so without notifying the OP does go against the standards the mods are asked to go by. Thanks.

Lots of that going around, mod or no.

True. But I expect moderators to be able to handle someone criticizing their actions.

Don't get me wrong. I think VB has some excellent mods, but I think some of the newer ones are starting to mishandle their position and are having a negative impact.

I removed it. And I'm not going to discuss it any further. However, you're free to go on about it, as I'm sure you and others probably will.

No, I just wanted an explanation. It was a joke thread, and I can give you links to many a thread much worse that weren't removed.

*Going on about it so it seems Michael is psychic* :stinkeye:

Is this some sort of moderator xenophobia? Perhaps you've seen things that I haven't (and I certainly don't read all the threads) but this comment seems pretty unfair for a few new mods which I happen to think are doing wonderful jobs.

Just an observation, and nothing personal. And it could be unfair to some new ones as I honestly am not sure who all the mods are now.

You know Xena scares me too!

Really? She kind of turned me on. :hump:

new mods always take some time to 'break in' to the habit. it's like that with any new job. i mean, yoga teachers when new--they're sensitive, almost touchy about things. they confuse easily and don't take jokes well. and a class interruption? forget about it.

i don't see why newbies of any job wouldnt be seen in this way, and given room to grow. that's kinda the nature of taking on a new job.

i haven't really had any problems with moderators--new or otherwise.

Seeing as how it wasn't a new moderator that deleted the thread, but the board's owner -- essentially the oldest moderator here -- I don't see how that relates to the situation.

Like you tell everyone, prove it. Was there something other than the deletion of the CapitalistSwine thread that prompted this statement?

You would be correct. I was hypothesizing incorrectly about the CapPig thread, but I do hold that belief in general. I also said that I don't believe my statement is true for all new mods, as I don't think I even know who some of them are.

There's a link on the front page that lists the mods.
