View Full Version : Reporting bad posts

I clicked by mistake on the button that said "Report a Bad Post". But it didn't come up with a form or anything that I had to fill in.

So did a report go through by accident? Or was my mistake without any consequence? (It was in the thread that bashes humouristically the moderators.)

A box didn't come up? What did the screen look like right after you clicked the button?

Oh dear, I can't remember. But if you say a box should come up, then I think that nothing will have been reported.

Hopefully. :) You're not in trouble either way, I'm sure.

My guess it that you either sent a blank report or no report at all. If you want to report the post, I'd suggest trying again. If not, the worst that will happen is a mod will look at the reported post and decide nothings wrong with it.

Do you have a pop-up blocker that may be interfering?

Oh no!!! I don't want to report a post!!! I hate reporting posts. I'm a great believer in freedom of speech.

I most definitely have pop-up blockers on my computer. I hate pop-ups. Freedom of speech is one thing. But pop-up ads suck.

Well ... sounds like you're good then. Since you don't want the ability to report posts, you won't even have to adjust your pop-up settings :p

Well, it's OK to report a post if it's from a troll or a spammer. I do that whenever I spot one. I figure, the sooner I report the post, the sooner the offending poster is removed from VB.

If no box came up, it didn't report. I didn't see any blank reports.

Amy: You're right. Trolls can be very painful. Spammers are a degree less painful but they should be served up for dinner (maybe for the trolls?)

I haven't seen any blank reports either, so you are fine Diana. No worries. It is appreciated (and helpful) if a member reports a rude, abusive, troll or spam post. Pretty much anything against the TOS, we appreciate hearing about if it's spotted.

No, the other way around. The trolls should be dinner for the spammers. :D

Thanks everyone for your help and quick responses. People on these boards seem to be very helpful and one feels very welcome here. Must be the veg*an attitude.

I will report trolls if I see one - or else I will do a Harry Potter on them and knock them on their heads with their big sticks.

Am not sure what is considered rude and abusive though. It's very subjective isn't it. On some boards, one is considered abusive if one says "boo". But I reckon I will soon figure out what is acceptable here and what isn't.

In the meantime, I will try and figure out a nice Troll recipe for the spammers. Something they can get their teeth into. *Wonders if trolls have carnivore or omnivore teeth.*

Pop-ups wouldn't have anything to do with it. If you didn't fill out and submit a form then nothing got reported.

Humouristically? That isn't even a word. That's not even close to being a word.

Oh... I didn't realise poetic licence was not allowed on these boards. You're welcome to report my post.

But just in case other people also had a problem reading me, I meant "humourously". (British spelling.) (It's actually pretty close to the other word I used....)
