View Full Version : Almost died on Friday

I almost died in a traffic accident on friday. My dad's a diabetic (a very bad one, as he keeps himself in low blood sugars all the time) and he has anger issues and he is my least favorite person. We were driving down a busy highway when he went into a reaction (hi sugar went down to 30) and he was starting to park in the middle lane of the highway. My mom, a smart lady, was able to make him pull over, but she's sick of his crap by now. But a big semi was right behind us when he started to park on the highway. And another car was in front of us--we would've been squashed.

I've been pale since then and I feel sick and I'm scared of cars now. I've always been terrified of semis, but I love car rides. Now, I'm scared to get in the car, but I do.

 I'm glad you're ok! It's normal to be afraid after something like this. Just don't let the fear consume you.

As a general rule, semi drivers are by far the best drivers on the road. So, depending on exactly how fast your father was stopping, there was actually a good chance the semi would've moved to avoid you.

It was just so weird, though. We were surrounded by cars, but we still got from the middle lane to the side gravel road.

Aww, thanks for the hugs.

Those cars don't wanna die either, fortunately.

I'm glad you are ok. Are you going to keep riding with your dad?

What a scary experience! It's totally normal to feel apprehensive about cars after that. Be patient with yourself and give yourself some time to integrate it, okay?

No. My mom refuses to let him. And I refuse to go anywhere (I've had two other experiences like this--without the parking in the highway part :D )

He has anger issues and he's a very verbally/emotionally abusive person. I barely talk to him ever. You can bet that, after Friday's incident, I'll probably never talk to him again. I don't like mean people.

I know how you feel. My dad was an emotional and verbally abusive alcholic and when he died I felt a tremendous weight lifted. It's so hard when your realize you dont like (or really even love) someone in your family. You kinda feel like you're betraying the idea of what family is supposed to be. Your family is kinda like your hair color--just because you were born into it doesnt mean you have to love it.
