ive been thinking about entering a benchpress competition which is at the end of this month..its something ive been wanting to do for a while..but still cant quite make up my mind wether or not to do it..

as of right now i can bench (without needing anyone to spot for me) 85 lbs...i had originally set a goal for myself of 100 lbs, without a spot..
i probably weigh around 135 lbs.and im 5'9"..but i have long limbs, and from what ive heard, that can make it harder to be of any competition as far as strength traning is concerned..

aside from eating more protein, does anyone have an idea of what i could do to increase my bench in the next two weeks?..

(thinking i should have posted this a month ago..haha)

Check out http://www.veganfitness.net There are quite a few competitors on that site which should be able to give you pointers.

Good Luck!

wait a minute, I'm confused. Are you saying.... vegans here..... benchpress? Isn't that a form of weightlifting though?

The benchpress is about technique first, strength second, and long limbs third. The first time I did benchpress as a 135 pound high school freshman I think I struggled with 95. By the end of high school I weight 150 and was bench pressing 245, was I 2.5 times as strong? No, my technique was much better though.

When I started lifting again (briefly) I couple of years later, I went from 145 to 215 in the first two weeks, obviously almost all of that can be attributed to getting my technique back.
