Half of my family is from Barbados. Recently my Mom went back for a vacation. My family is extremly wealthy and my mom was staying at the beach house. Well, the first night there my Mom finds the family dog, a black cocker spaniel named Spokes, chained under a shed. The hair around the eyes was all gone because he had tried to rub the sand away from his eyes. The hair around his belly was gone as well. He had been chained there for 3 months while the family was on vacation. Someone came around to feed him once a week.
My mom said she cried the first night and the second put on her PETA hat and marched up to my Uncle and demanded Spokes. My Uncle said he would pay to have Spokes shipped to Canada to live with my Mom! Since Barbados is a rabies free country Spokes only has to pass a vet test and then he is free to come here and start living the good life. My only concern is he was in such poor health he might not pass the test and my other concern is my family is notorious for not seeing things through and won't follow through.
So please pray and cross your fingers that Spokes will pass the health test and be sent to Canada to live in happiness!
Thanks!

Aww! I hope Spokes is soon a happy, well fed pup on Canadian soil.
That's terrible that your family would do that to Spokes. They wouldn't leave a child chained up like that, and Spokes was a family member as well.
I'm praying as well for Spokes to have a happy new life in Canada!
(we need a dog smilie on VB)
Oh poor little Spokes!!! (((((((Spokes)))))))
I'm a Tarot reader (do it as part of my profession). I couldn't resist taking out my cards. I see good things ahead for Spokes... but am uncertain as to whether he will leave for Canada or just find a new good home. I didn't pull more cards to see because I just wanted to know if he was going to be okay.

oh poor Spokes! I'm so happy your mom is so cool. And I hope he gets to go home with your mom.
It's amazing how different people in the same family could be. I don't mean to hijack your thread but something very similar happened in my family. My uncle had a dog who he had chained in his garage that was full of diesel cars/trucks. Then he threw boiling water on the dog and tried to strangle the dog. My mom found out about it and took the dog from her brother. The dog is so darn protective of my mother and father now. No one can get close to them if Bingo is around unless he feels that they are safe. But when my uncle comes to visit, all Bingo has to do is hear his voice and he pees out of fear. I hate some people.

Jesus.
Is your Uncle mentally unstabled? Why would he throw boiling water on a dog?

To kill him. Third world country - it's not the first dog my mom has rescued that has had boiling water thrown at it. My uncle is an cold hearted idiot.

That sucks man, it angers me when I hear stories like this one. A cat I own was found in a pond with a brick tied round it when it was a kitten. Lucky we found it, my dad was fishing and he caught a bag with this kitten in it. He was about to throw it back in when he heard a meow come from this bag.
Hope it all goes well man. ;D

People can be such non-animals. All will go well for Spokes. DOn't even think that it won't, because it will. Go Spoksie!

Spokes was taken to a groomer on Saturday and was found to be flea and parasite infested. He was taken to a vet who is keeping him until he is healthy and then is going to ship him himself to Canada. When he arrives I will let everyone know and post pics.
