Greetings.

I am a breastfeeding mother. My son is now 5 1/2 months old. I was first introduced to Natural Nutrition in 2001 and have been struggling with my addiction to cooked food ever since. I have been a vegetarian since 2000 and vegan since 2001. I feel ready to manifest a diet composed of all living foods now and am wondering if any of you have suggestions, words of encouragement and/or resources that will be of support and guidance upon my path. I am also wondering if there are other women who have transitioned into a raw diet while nursing and if so, what did you and your child experience. Also, if you all have any good recipes... please share!

Here is the link:

I think it's awesome that you are so committed to your heatlh and that of your children. I'm 18 and it's my dream to have raw pregnancies and raise raw kids. I myself have been all raw for 14 months and I will never go back. It's been such a life changing experience. My whole way of thinking has changed. Keep it up!

Peace & Love my Sistah.
Give thanks for coming forward with words of encouragement. Today, upon rising I ate a whole cantaloupe and a bin of raspberrys. I have been craving cooked food, specifically, humus wrapped in a tortilla with avocado, red leaf lettuce and tomato. I guess I signed on at the right moment because now I am inspired to eat more fruit and salad later.
Ginger~ You said that you have been eating a lot of boiled potato and that once you overcome that addiction you will be all raw. My uncle eats raw potato! I find that when I want to eat potatoes and yams it is because I feel a need to be more grounded. Perhaps, your drawning to potatoes is symbolic of your need for greater stability? Just a thought. One my favorite meditations is to go outside, barefoot and stand firmly upon the ground. I imagine roots coming through the soles of my feet and envision them growing deep in the earth. I remember my purpose and give thanks for life.
Raw Girl~ I think that it is awesome that you are devoted to maintaining a Raw diet.

Blessings

IntuitiveMama,

I would be wary of switching over to a completely raw diet while nursing (especially in baby's first year when breastmilk is the majority of their diet). I don't want to discourage you from doing it eventually, but I would suggest you do it gradually, and also that you find a nutritionist (one who is knowledgeable about veg*n nutrition and raw nutrition) that can guide you during your transition. With not only your own health, but the health and growth of your baby at stake, you want to be 100% sure that you have all your nutritional bases covered (such as B-12, essential fatty acids, sufficient protein, etc).

I gotta agree with this too...

Greetings Colorful, FreshTart, and Tofu-N-Sprouts ~
Give thanks for the reasoning. I sight the cause of your concern and hope to inspire you to research the benefits of maintaining a complete Raw Diet. Have any of you ever thrived on a diet composed of 100% raw foodstuff? I am a nursing mother. My duty is to support and nourish the growth and development of my son so that his roots will itinue to grow strong. I have carefully researched this topic. Infact, from the first moment I was introduced to the vision, I have known it to be the voice of Truth. Cooked food is dead. Raw food is living. I and my son want to dance in the kingdom of the living. I and my son want to thrive, rise up spiritually and reach higher heights. The wombman who first introduced me to Natural Nutrition is a Nutrition Specialist. She is also a raw-foodist. She endured two Raw pregnancies and raised two raw children. She and her children are amongst the healthiest people I know. I have been vegan for over 4 years now and quit eating flesh a long time ago and have done transitioned into a more healthy livity. Now, is the time to manifest and overcome the obstacles that prevent me from establishing my higher-self. I give thanks for the warning still. The message is clear.

Peace and Love.

Is 'wombman' some trendy new word for 'woman'? If so, I kinda like it (even though it implies that being a woman means having a uterus, which is not always true).

Not to be nitpicky (ok, well, I am being nitpicky) but I do have to wonder at the phrase " She endured two Raw pregnancies...". (emphasis mine).

How sad. Especially for someone embracing this supposedly joyful and wonderful lifestyle...
I never felt pregnancy was something I had to "endure" even when I was at my most miserable (which happened all too much, unfortunately). I loved being pregnant. Having to "endure" something makes it sound horrible, and makes one wonder if it was the Raw-lifestyle she had to endure or the pregnancy itself.

.....

I think she just chose the wrong word. I know you're very skeptical of raw foodism but let's face it, there have been plenty of omnivores just as skeptical of a veg*n diet. No need to be nit-picky...or nitpicking (i'm not sure which is the right word)

Quickly from dictionary.com
en·dure Audio pronunciation of "endure" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (n-dr, -dyr)
v. en·dured, en·dur·ing, en·dures
v. tr.

1. To carry on through, despite hardships; undergo: endure an Arctic winter.
2. To bear with tolerance: “We seek the truth, and will endure the consequences” (Charles Seymour). See Synonyms at bear1.

I think endure fits just fine(especially by the first meaning). But, that is just my opinion.

Ooh! Ooh! I get to endure an Arctic winter this year!! Well, actually just a subarctic autumn week, but still. I will be researching polar bears, and I am very excited. :hamster:

(Way OT, sorry...)
