I'm concerned about my vitamin D consumption. I read that too much vitamin D can lead to kidney problems.

On a daily basis, I take:
one multivitamin that contains 400 iu of vitamin D.
two 8 fl oz cans of Ensure Plus that contain 200 iu of vitamin D each, for a total of 400 iu of vitamin D.
three calcium supplements that contain 200 iu of vitamin D each, for a total of 600 iu.

That brings me to 1400 iu of Vitamin D...just from pills and Ensure. That's not even including regular food and sunlight.

Should I be worried....? :-/ :worried:

That is more vitamin D than you typically need. 400-800 IU from food and/or supplements is really the upper limit. Vitamin D is fat soluble, which means your body stores it and you can get too much of it. You should probably consider finding a suitable replacement for the ensure drinks. Maybe start making yourself some fruit smoothies instead? They taste great and have lots of fiber and nutrients. :lick: And perhaps find a calcium/magnesium supplement without vitamin D to replace your current one.

or don;t take teh calcium supplements.

from what i've seen there really is no evidence that loads of calcium (esp in supplement form) is beneficial to health, and can even be detrimental.
