whats up witht he country fried chikn? i havent seen it in stores but i saw it on the website. i tried the country fried steak meal by Amy's and it was kinda yucky. has anyone tried the gardenburger one yet?

ive never really loved any of their chicken stuff but i the country fried chikn looks good.
i can eat the bbq chikn but it goes down better if i put it on a big toasted hoagie roll :)

I tried them.
now, I've had actual, chicken hot-wings all of once.
Is the sauce really supposed to be THAT salty and THAT vinegary?

I tried these the other day.....all I have to add is BLECH. I thought the sauce was the worst part.

I was also less than impressed with the Gardenburger wings. The main component of buffalo wing sauce is a vinegar based hot sauce, but it shouldn't be as sour as the Gardenburger version. I'm not all that fond of any of Gardenburger's chicken products, though. They all taste sort of chemically to me.

I agree with everyone.. yuck.

The sweet and sour "pork" is gross too. *shivers*

I can't stand vinegar. I know I wouldn't like these products. Thanks for the input!

I have both the sweet and sour "pork" and the chickn wings in the freezer, maybe the sweet and sour needs to be less sweet and the chickn less sour, LOL...
Regular buffalo wings weren't that great anyway, unless you dip them in blue cheese dressing, that is...
Actually, I am not very impressed with Gardenburger...
Although I have been craving those pizza nuggets they make...
I used to love the Original burger when it was made with mozzarella cheese, now
I don't like it...Amy's california burger is much better...
No matter what veggie burger I eat, I like to cook it until it's crispy, almost dry, I don't like the mushiness...
Dunno why, kinda like a falafel ball, noone wants a mushy one of those, huh?
I doubt I'll try the country fried chickn, I don't like any of the Gardenburger chickn stuff...blech....

Dang, I should try these Gardenburger wings, then. I used to love love love the vinegar flavor of buffalo wings. Sour and hot. Yum. :lick: :)

however, i tried the sweet and sour pork a while ago and it's an experience i wish i could forget.

When I was in college, they cooked gardenburgers in a toaster (so they weren't on the grill with the meat).

It actually worked *really* well and they came out quite tasty. :lick: I should start doing that...

and I'm not a fan of *any* "chicken" products except for chicken-style seitan. The processed "chicken" things taste icky to me. And they smell like a barnyard. Which is weird, considering it's the one place it *didn't* come from. :sheep:

I just tried the Gardenburger wings over the weekend. What a horrible, nasty experience that was! I can't believe that they are really as awful as they are. I'm usually pretty easy to please food-wise. If it's vegan, I'll eat it. But two bites of these things and that was it!
Bleck!

I agree, although I love most of Gardenburger's products.

If Gardenburger would have gotten the opinion of VB members like Fantastic Foods does maybe we could have saved them from putting this crap out. :p

I had mine nuked, which could make a huge difference, but they were way too mushy and way too salty. I never was a fan of wings but I do love the Moringstar Farms buffalo wings.

Ugh, those Gardenburger wings were putrid! Reminded me of one of the reasons I'm veggie in the first place.

I really like the meatless riblet thingies a lot, especially the sauce. The faux meat stuff does NOT microwave well, though.

My boy switched from microwaving his ribblets to the "boil in the bag" method. He says it works much better that way. The sauce doesn't get all burnt on the ends and you don't end up with a cold spot in the middle like sometimes happens in the microwave. We baked the wings in the oven and that didn't really affect them much. They're just a crap product. I don't know what Gardenburger was thinking.

I haven't tried the riblet by boiling. Stove works pretty well. Maybe I'll try boiling in the bag some time, just to taste it.

i've tried morningstar farms' buffalo wings (http://kellogg.marketlocator.com/kelloggs/us/knutr.nsf/websearch/E2FDBB3B8E63AD8F862569C90070E20E?opendocument&Cat=Search) and thought they were pretty good. you have to make them in the oven; the micro just doesn't cut it. they are not vegan, though.

as an aside, i heard that morningstar farms (kellogg's) uses gmo ingredients, so i haven't been buying any of their products. does anyone know if this is still the case? i really miss their breakfast sausage patties (http://kellogg.marketlocator.com/kelloggs/us/knutr.nsf/webmorningstarfarms/E111BCA150FBC9A4862569CB0053E5CE?opendocument&Cat=MorningStarFarms) and chik'n nuggets (http://kellogg.marketlocator.com/kelloggs/us/knutr.nsf/webmorningstarfarms/3C290D487C039DB4862569C9006D926D?opendocument&Cat=MorningStarFarms) (although they aren't vegan, which is the direction i'm trying to go). if they do contain gmo, anyone have any vegan alternatives?

I really liked the buffalo wings. o.O I guess I'm weird. I love vinegar-y things, though. :9

I was so psyched to find vegan ones, too. My college's dining hall uses Morning Star Farms buffalo wings, and they're okay. Just really... orange.

I tried the country chicken thing, and it was okay. Better than the Amy's crap. The gravy was bland as hell, though.

i loved the sauce, but hated the chicken texture. It was all mushy. I actually considered buying them for the sauce and putting it on something else it was so good, but then I love vinegar, and salt.

I tried the sweet and sour pork stuff from gardenburger tonight. The "meat" is exactly the same as the riblets, just with a different sauce. It was pretty tasty over rice, but one box was not enough to feed Ken and I both. It was a very small portion! So, we probably won't buy it again because of the cost.
I was a little scared to try these tonight. After that nasty buffalo wing experience I'm a bit gun-shy. How nasty those were! *shudder*

They may be called Veggie Wings actually, if you've had 'em, you'd remember, pretty spicy! I think they're pretty good, recommended :)
