10 mile run today.

~~~~~~~~~~~
Slynny, it is good to see you back here again. I was just starting to wonder about you. :) I wish you luck with your next marathon training program. It is pretty hard training in the summer though isn't it? I'm having a hard time because I have to take our pace group out (they are only up to 4 miles) and then I have to come back, drop them off, and then go out to make the number of miles I am supposed to run. It gets hot in between all that time.
Also, Slynny brought up a good point. If you guys come on here on Sunday and a new thread isn't started, go ahead and start it yourself if you want. Yes, I still follow the same policy of starting the new thread and then PMing a mod and asking them to stick it up there.
I hope everyone has a great week! :hi:
The tri on Sunday was really good. Really hard, but satisfying, you know. I'm still eating like a maniac from it too! Today of course was a rest day.
Good luck Anna!
Ran/Walked 5km on the treadmill last night. Took me 37 minutes - 20 minutes of that was running. I'm very proud of myself!
Hi Hamsters!
Captain, I really feel bad for not being around because I really think the Hamsters are great!! They have really helped to motivate me and I think most people can all use a little motivation when it comes to working out and the Hamsters are always so awesome when it comes to being supportive!
Thanks again!
Anyway, One of the gals I'm running with asked me on one of our warmer runs how it was training in the winter.....I think she was thinking it would be better. I said imagine running 16 miles on a treadmill, or running in the slush and snow when the wind chill is -0....Summer is much better even in the heat. 4 mile run Mon., 4 miles tomorrow, a long bike ride on Thurs., and Fri is a 14 miler.
anna, good luck on Sat. :vebo:
ND, congrats on your tri!! The eating is the best part....hehehehe. Way to go!! :hamster:
Shadowlee, you should be proud!!! Great job!!! :rockon:
Virtue, Spanish dance...cool...is it the Flamenco that you do?
Go Hamsters....:guitar: :rockon:
Slynny - It was actually a dance that we performed to a christian/spanish song that we incorporated a spanish-style dance to. So it was more, salsa-ish mixed with some jazz moves - not flamenco.
I would love to learn to do the Flamenco tho. It's so classic and so rich in culture! Plus, I love the costumes, lol.
Well, I'm finally back to Hamstering after a long break. I did an easy 10k on trails yesterday. Everything felt more or less ok, but then I didn't run too fast. Hopefully I'll be back to regular training soon. Great job everyone.
2 mile walk yesterday
3 mile run today
Some jackass on a bike looked straight at me and then spit on my dog as we were nearing the end of our run today. :( I don't get people.
Slynny, I guess you guys over there have it bad as far as weather is concerned. In socal, our off season is summer and winter is heaven for training. I hope that your friend sticks with it. :)
Mark, good to see you back!
CK, great hamstering. Those are some long walks! :yes:
Annabanana, you are awesome. :D
Tuesday and Wednesday I did some core strengthening stuff. Yesterday I ran 3 miles and today I did 30 min yoga in the morning and I think I'll do more core strengthening stuff before I go to bed.
Friday: 3 mile run and about 4 miles of walking
Today: 10 mile trail race :) It started to downpour about a minute before the start...which made for squishy shoes and socks and my first blisters, yay. It was a well-marked course (with five to many hills...) with really helpful volunteers and it was a good experience overall, despite the weather. It cleared up by the end which was nice. And I came in under the time I expected too :)
Today I headed out my front door and ran/walked for 15 minutes and then ran/walked back again. I have no idea what distance I covered, but a majority of the time I was running. Man was I tired!! Running on the ground is harder then running on a treadmill. I'm going to have to get new shoes - my current ones aren't supporting my feet very well.
I came home and did a few strengthening exercises and had a good stretch.
Go Hamsters!! And thanks for all your encouragement and support guys!
