Ok, so I can find makeup remover and pretty much everything, but I have yet to find a cruelty-free eye makeup remover. I'm talking more like the astringent type stuff if possible, that you just put on a cotton ball and rub on your eyes. Whenever I shower with even eyeliner on, I get out looking like a zombie :( And it gets worse when I have to wear mascara or other makeup. I do modeling and have to be able to get the stuff off and put on new makeup in minimal time to, so something convenient is a must. Does anyone know of drugstore brands...? I scoured a grocery store and a drugstore and came up empty. Maybe I'll have to go for something expensive? Please help! I'm going crazy!

Arbonne makes some pretty nifty eye makeup remover pads which are 100% vegan. They work great to take off eye makeup very quickly without leaving an oily residue. However, they don't work great with waterproof mascara. I'm a district manager for Arbonne, so you can get them through me if you so choose. :)
How cool it is to be a model! Wow! We have an National Vice President in Arbonne who was the former president of the American Modeling Association or something like that....I suppose I should check the name of the organization before I post :p

What's wrong with just plain mild soap and a washcloth?? That'll save you $$

I use Witch Hazel on cotton balls. It works really well (for all over your face as well, as an astringent)! And it's not at all harsh. I use the lemon variety...it has a faint lemon fragrance. I'm pretty sure it's cruelty-free...i'm unsure of the brand I use but it's the only brand I've seen, and they don't test on animals. (and i don't see how it could contain animal products...witch hazel is an herb.) ANYWAY, I would just try a natural foods place where they sell veg*n products. I get mine at my local food co-op. About 8 bucks for a bottle will last you several months.

Soap and water doesn't get off eyeliner and mascara, just makes it run, and if I use a washcloth to scrub it off it usually stays but my eyes get red and puffy. Pain but no gain.

Thanks for the ideas! I'll look into them asap :)

Nature's Gate has eye make up remover. I have yet to try it, myself. Has anyone else tried this brand?

Coconut oil is great for this, actually.

I'm a model too, so I feel your pain over the eye-puffyness. I do gothic/industrial modelling so I usually have black or neon mascara, liner, and shadow cakes on like you wouldn't believe. I use Avon Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover but you can only get that out of a catalog or online http://shop.avon.com/

Almay makes a good eye makeup remover, aswell. It comes in an oil, gel, or a cream (I suggest the cream) and only costs about $10.95CND. http://www.almay.com/Product.asp?SubCatId=60

Baby Oil and Cotton Balls work like a charm, and don't be afraid to use it....it doesn't burn your eyes whatsoever. It's an old trick mom taught me long time ago......
p.s. after you've got the make up off.....wipe with a tissue to get the excess oil off your eyes, then wash your face as usual.

For Puffiness, fresh cool cucumbers over your eyes help, so does warm tea bags......when you wake up spash your eyes with cold water for a few minutes...another trick from mom.

I could swear Better Botanicals used to make one, but I can't find it on their site...

Anyway, here's Aveda's. http://www.aveda.com/templates/products/sp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY7179&PRODUCT_ID=PROD5935

  *Sigh*....I don't want you guys to think that all I do here is try to sell you stuff, but I really feel the need to steer you away from mineral oil (aka petroleum, petrolatum, paraffin) based products.

In my opinion, conventional baby oil is not a good product to use around the eyes. Conventional baby oil is nothing but mineral oil (refined crude oil) and fragrance. The eye area is SUPER delicate. You want to be using things that will improve the look of your eye area. In my opinion, mineral oil won't provide any benefit at all....in fact, it is possible that this could be detrimental to your skin & eyes. Some even say that it can accelerate the signs of aging. Not to mention, it's so difficult to rinse off and it's nearly impossible to make your cosmetics look good while sitting on a layer of oil.

There are so many better alternatives. I hope you find a suitable one.

i use aubrey organics' herbessence makeup remover (http://www.aubrey-organics.com/product1.cfm?product_id=048&cat=8). i love it; it's inexpensive ($6.95), all-natural, cruelty-free and i've found that i don't need an eye moisturizer any longer. it's a small bottle, but it goes a long way. i will say that it takes a bit longer to remove mascara than other "conventional" removers, which may be problematic in your line of work.

i also read that plain almond oil can be used as a remover, though i haven't tried it.

Yeah, I do a lot of Gothy modeling too... the shoot I needed the cleaner for (I got the witch hazel for only $3.50, it worked ok but didn't get off ALL that eyeliner) was a rawkstar shoot, so I was wearing TONS of makeup. And now my bf seems to be wearing a ton of eyeliner too :-P Actually, it was for a film he was in. But he just came home and tried getting it off with soap and water, and now his eyes are kinda puffy :( Anyway, I agree, the eyes are a delicate place, and they are the first place that show signs of aging. I already have wrinkles under them (since high school)! I am getting ripped off at work right now (making WAY too little to even pay rent), so the witch hazel is all I'll be able to use for now, but thank you for all the advice. I will definitely check out Arbonne when I get money. I've heard a lot about it!
