Help! Anyone in the GTA, I have a dog that needs a home by the end of the week, or he will be put to sleep.

A client brought him in, he's been acting aggressive towards her kids and she wanted to put him down. We convinced her to give us a couple of days to rehome him, rather than kill him for something that can be easily taken care of with the proper training.

He's a 10 year old cocker spaniel, neutered, history of ear problems, and displays lots of dominance aggression, especially towards children. I have no idea how he is with cats or other dogs.

Please, if you, or someone you know can take him, or if you know of any rescues or places I could try calling, please let me know asap!

Thanks

:( I would if I could, Silver. I'll definitely let you know if I come across anyone who will take him.

Thanks newstars. It's so sad! The husband called us in tears, thanking us for giving Cody a chance. He doesn't want to put the dog down, his wife is forcing him. What a witch!

I don't understand how someone could own a dog for 10 years, then just decide that they don't want the bother of him anymore. A little training, and he'd be fine around the kids. But no, she'd rather just kill him! It's so frustrating dealing with idiots like her!

Wow, that's terrible. They bought the dog, didn't want to spend the time to train it properly. So they get fed up when it doesn't behave properly, and want to put it to death because they're too lazy to look themselves for a new home for it.

Like, you had to CONVINCE them to let you have some time so YOU could find a home for it?

Why do morons like these even bother buying pets in the first place? :-/

Sorry, had to rant.

Have you looked on line for cocker rescue groups? I found one in BC but my knowledge of Canadian geography truly sucks, so I don't know how close that is to you. But maybe there's one nearby?

I'd take him myself and work with him if I was anywhere near you. Good luck! :(

We're having the same problem with my Mia, also a cocker. So I can understand why they'd want to give him up.. seeing how much damage a dog can do with one bite sure makes things scary. But we're choosing to work with her instead of just giving up. I'm so glad you're giving him a chance! I wish you (and him!) the best of luck finding a new home.

I myself live in Toronto, but couldn't possibly take on another one(have 2 st. bernards). But I do know of a couple of all-breed rescues in the area, such as:

Adopt a Dog, Save a Life
www.adoptadogsavealife.com

Animal Alliance of Canada
www.animalalliance.ca

Hope this helps, good luck!
