ok, so you might remeber me posting about my fish, Russell having a mystery illness the other day.well, he seemed to be getting better ( i was advised to treat him with anti fungal stuff because he seemed to have sores on his sides) well just now, i checked on him in his treatment tank, and i fear he may be dying. he can't swim right, he's tilting to one side and he has a white lump on his side that seems to be coming from under scales. please can somebody tell me what it might be? do you think he's going to die? what can i do to try & help?
please post your ideas!
thanks,
Brandon

It sounds like a tumor. Unfortunately, I have no experience with them personally so I can't give you much advice aside from heading to Google and doing a search for goldfish tumors. Sorry to hear about Russell. :(

I'm so sorry Russell! I had a fish with the same syntoms a couple of months ago I hate to say it but he didn't survive... maybe there's something that you can put in the tank for him? I hope everything turns out for the better.
Russell passed away yesterday
i'm still not sure what killed him but before i buried him, i looked at him more closely, i found he had a tiny hole in his abdomen (which wasn't there the day before) and his stomach looked all hollowed out (he had looked perfectly ok before yesterday apart from the white spots i told you about) so i was just wondering if anybody knew what had caused the hole is his side? & does anybody know how to prevent it happeneing to my other fish? thank you for your time & patience :)

I'm sorry to hear about Russell. :(
As for the hole in his side....um, he was in a tank with other goldfish right? Well, sometimes when one of the goldies passes away, the other goldfish will uh, nibble on it. It's part of nature's way of decomposing them. Not pretty, definitely not a desirable activity, but sometimes fish do that.
I may be totally wrong, but there's a possibility that's what caused the hole.
If he was in with other fish when he died, you will definitely want to do a water change as well. When a goldfish dies, it releases nitrogen into the water which isn't good for the other fish.
Again, sorry to hear about Russell.

maybe it was parisite? or it could be a vary bad infection? Im not realy sure non of my fish ever got sick this way, I would keep a realy good look out for your other fish and make sure their healthy and if you have a reson to think their not to make sure you treat them early
he was in a tank with other goldfish right?
no, he wasn't, i seperated him from the others when he first started looking ill, so i'm realy puzzled about the hole in his side thing :-/
i just hope none of my other fishes get it (so far so good, touch wood!)
anyway, thanks for your time
