i've been a vegan for like 9 months now, but I've been kind of lazy when it comes to looking at the ingrediants in my hygiene products. So I'm pretty sure some of my stuff uses animals, like my body/hand soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. I still have a hard time finding out whats derived from an animal or not. The only stuff i've actually looked at is stuff from the vegan society's website, in particular this. (http://www.vegsoc.org/info/stumbling.html) Does anyone have any recommendations on a book or a website that's something similiar to that link above.

Well there are a lot of ingrediants that can come from animals or vegetables, in which case you need to call the company. There is usually a number on the product. I know there is a book out there animal ingredients a to z.

Hi and welcome to VB. I don't know where you live but if you're in the UK, then the Vegan Society's Animal Free Shopper is a really handy book to have. It has a list similar to the one you posted in the link and also a list of foods and some toiletries which are vegan.

PS - just wondering, is your username in reference to Star Trek?

As far as books go "How it all Vegan" and "The Garden of Vegan" have an excellent index and awesome recipes. :)
