View Full Version : Cute (and amazing) things your doggy has done!

Do any of you have any particularly special stories to tell that your dog has done?
Here's mine:
My husband and I were on a long road trip. My dog (Sadie) was in my lap when all of a sudden she swiped her paw on the car door window. I looked at my husband and said "I think she's trying to say she needs to go out." (she's never 'asked' to get out of the car before because we're usually not going too far) Anyway, my husband found a place to pull over, and sure enough, as soon as her feet hit the ground, she peed. Now the cute part: Then she immediately hopped back into the car, jumped over in my husbands lap, gave him a quick kiss on the face and then settled down back in my lap. I took that as "Thank you daddy, I REALLY had to go BAD!" :smitten:
Might be one of those 'you had to be there' stories...

People just don't give their pets enough credit. Too many people just don't listen when their babies are "talking"!! Great story.

My dog doesn't ever wake me up, but she'll sit there and stare at me until I wake up, and the minute I look at her, she starts licking me like crazy...she also howls if I howl...very funny...

This wasn't my dog, but a friend's. She was an avid stick-chaser (the dog, not the friend.) She chased sticks well into her elderly years. One day my friend threw a stick and the dog just looked at it.... then she gave him a look that he described as clearly saying, "I quit." :D She never chased another stick after that.

Every time my dog says hello to me when he wakes up after a nap he stands there and curls into a ball, kinda puts his head right by his tail while standing, backs up with his butt leading the way, and comes up to my legs and kicks me with his back legs. As if saying "Hey I'm being funny so pet me!" It is the weirdest thing but I laugh every time he does it, which of course makes him do it more. He's my little buttcurlykicker.
when my dog is pleased to see me (or when he's taken interest in what i'm eating!) he does this little dance where stands on his back legs and kind of claps his paws together - his balance is realy quite good - not amazing, but pretty funny to watch :)

I just noticed something else funny...
My dog hurt her leg a few months ago...she sprained it or something...for about 2 weeks, she got the royal treatment. I carried her everywhere so she didnt injure herself more, and she got to sleep in the bed, which is unusual since both of my dogs are kennel trained, and they both sleep in their kennels at night. Now that she's completely healed, she tries to limp to get out of trouble. Seriously, she will chase the other one all over the house and she's fine, but as soon as she gets caught chewing something she shouldn't be, she starts limping and giving me this pathetic little face. It's hilarious. She also does it when I tell her "bedtime" cause she knows that means she has to go in the kennel. She's quite the little actress.

Kennel? What? Why is the poor dog going into a kennel?

They have to be in a kennel because she spent a week in an animal hospital after eating something while I was sleeping. They are both under 20 pounds with kennels big enough to fit a full grown lab and have been trained from pups to know that their kennel is their bed. They have water and chew toys in the kennel. They go in there on their own to nap all the time. It's not a bad thing, it's for their own safety. They only have to be in there at night. I don't feel that it's cruel in any way. If I left them in there all day long, that would be cruel.
