VEGENNES, Va. - A worker in the returns department at Country Home Products got a surprise when he opened a brush trimmer sent back from South Carolina.
Inside the box was the trimmer — and five kittens.
The three-week-old kittens survived the two-day trip to Vermont and are doing fine.
I'm wondering how someone could not notice 5 kittens in a box  He should have at least noticed the weight change.
I wonder if the ASPCA will investigate, since they obviously have an address.

That's very sad, poor little guys, too bad a virus doesn't emerge that targets the truly stupid.

There is, it's called the Atkins diet.

I'm happy to hear their suffering wasn't too severe. (don't you just love it when something unintentionally rhymes:D )
ONE kitten I can understand, but FIVE? Didn't the guy who sent the brush trimmer back notice that there were five kittens missing?
Very strange indeed.

Well, the rest of the article said that the box had been in the barn for a while, so it seems like he didn't know that kittens had been born.
But, yeah, the whole thing is stuh-raynge.
I'm just glad they made it okay. Hopefully they will all go to good homes.
Oh, and loved the Atkins comment, Thirsty!

sounds like they will be o.k. the animal shelter they went to had a mom cat that had just weaned her babies so she can raise them and if the local news covers the story I bet their will be lots of people willing to adopt them.

Yeah, as scary as this must have been for them it pretty much guarantees they'll have good homes, when otherwise they would have been feral barn cats. Its still kind of strange though :juggle:

The silver lining. Thank you for letting us know about this. :)

Here's a (kind of crappy) photo of Hazel and the kittens. There's a slightly better (but smaller) version of it on the Humane Society website, but the site is down at the moment (maybe they got so many hits the site crashed). <shrug>
ETA: Never mind, the site is working again. http://www.addisonhumane.org/specialevents.php?section=10

Awww babies! :smitten: Kudos to the man and woman who saved the kittens.
Aww! I love kittens, I'm glad they're okay, besides being dehydrated.

My mother is on hte Atkins diet (not because she's tyring to lose wiehgt, but because she seems to think that any carbs other then fiber equal sugar)
